How to convince her

My grandma thinks there is an under population. How do i convince her otherwise. she at least did think that this is a reason to use birth control and NFP, (I know that NFP is ok, but only with a good reason). (I’m not sure if she still thinks it.) She probably does. And she thinks that it doesn’t matter that more people are killed because of abortion than in war, and that abortion is not a bigger issue. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure it is. , How do I convince her that it is a bigger issue?

I don’t understand the question.

priestsforlife.org/ has a great booklet that answers just about every conceivable doubt, all from a pro-life pov.

I highly recommend you e-mail them and get a copy.

No, she is to old to get pregnant, and she is a widow.

We don’t. Here in Canada, and also in the United States and in Europe, we actually have a population deficit. Fewer people are being born each day than die.

There are some cities in the world that are overcrowded, but at the same time, there are also places where there are almost no people at all. There are also places where there is very little food, but it’s not because there are too many people - it’s because of natural or man-made disasters that have made it so that the food cannot get to those people.

There is enough food in the world to feed every person alive today - the problem is to get the food to the people.
 
Why is it so important to convince her of these things? Is your grandmother behaving in some sinful way, or encouraging others to behave sinfully, with these ideas? I don’t think it is appropriate for you to be leafletting your grandmother or constantly bugging her about these issues. If she is actively supporting or encouraging abortion, that is a problem. But if she sees war as a major issue, it is likely because she has more exepereince with war. As her grandchild, it is more prudent for you to pray for her and gentle explain your positions as the topics come up in conversation, than to lay out a campaign to change her mind on issues that it doesn’t sound like she’s got sinful views on (since you say she is against abortion even if she see war as a worse condition).

You know, there are times when it’s okay to say, “That’s fine Grandma,” and then change the subject. You are not your Grandma’s teacher, priest, or parent, so it’s not really up to you to educate her, anyway - and arguing with her is probably a waste of time and energy.
