a lot of reading … but good stuff

Was in one of “those” seminars … had to write down our fears.

The next day, I was asked WHY on earth did I write down “crocodiles” and “large constricting snakes”???

I said I used to work in Africa.

This is how I see it. Fear is a mask and hides something else. In many cases it is powerlesness,.
Once a priest told his small community of rather senior members on a weekday Mass to stop watching the news because they left them powerless, unable to do anything about it,and excessive amount of information they couldn’t t handle.
That I found real and practical.
Also, that when we have not much to do,we tend to fill our minds with uselss, pretzel twisted thoughts,so some pleasant activity if a job isn t possible,or available ,is much better company.
Also serving ,helping people around in little things .
And last but not least,if the fear is too big, one may have to deal with it," peeling off" one by one the layers, until the size of it becomes smaller and more tackable than the big ghost it was.
Recipes that have helped me concretely.

Yes. I’m sure she’s angry at things. The more angrier she gets - the more fearful she’s finding herself. I think people who are fearful must have - suppressed hate. Perfect love - casts out fear. It makes you courageous.
There is so much wrong with shoving this assumption on everybody who is suffering from fear or anxiety, I can’t even go into it all in one post.

Shaking my head.

Fear and anxiety can have physiological reasons. They can also be a reaction to a severe stress, such as the death of a loved one, or suddenly being in a new situation unlike what you’re used to, such as moving away for college or a job, or facing the end of a relationship.

It’s not always “all about hate”. Sure there are people who get paranoid watching the news, but you shouldn’t assume that everybody who says they are dealing with fear and anxiety falls in that group.

Don’t state make diagnoses if you don’t even know her in person.
Don’t presume to know everything about someone or that you know their condition more than they do.

I’m just saying my take. That’s all. This isn’t a Catholic diagnoses doctor type web site.
I’m no Doctor Ray on EWTN. But perfect love - casts out fear
And add some of what The Colonel said - to the mixture -

I just thought it was a little mean to immediately jump to that conclusion and then bold and capitalized hate. You could have stated perfect love casts out all fear. Of course you’re going to get reactions by stating boldly someone had a hate issue without any explanation. Be careful with your words.

Oh - I thought you were in your mid twenties - or perhaps older -

“Perhaps dislike, yes, but not hate.”

Fair enough - then just make sure, that ‘dislike’ - doesn’t ever - cross over into HATE -

Hating - is almost like a witch spell cursing -
The person who hates - tries to get you to respond -
with whatever emotion - doesn’t matter -
that’s - what you have to immune yourself away from.

It’s impressive how Jesus - on the cross -
or Steven, being stone with rocks -
didn’t have a bad word to say 😇

I know about anxiety, I’ve suffered from it for about 10 years now (I’m coming up to 60). I’m trying hard to not let it rule my life and stop me living. Yes, things might happen (at the moment, I’m anxious about earthquakes, because we’ve just got back to our house abroad and there have been some significant earth tremors here this week), but while we’re worrying, life is happening and passing us by. I’ve decided that if my neighbours here can still go about their business, so can I.

I’m really trying to be grateful for the fact that I can worry about things that might not happen, when many other people have to worry about things which are actually happening.
