I’m thinking of a place like Mexico for example, where bribes to government officials are common. What does one do if the government that’s supposed to protect you goes to the highest bidder?

Is the answer revolution?

If the police force doesn’t do anything about criminals, is it ok to take the law into your own hands?

Mexico is rapidly moving towards Anarchy. The nation has been literally divided by drug cartels who have 10’s of thousands of soldiers in their territories. I have read that a “drug army” of 20,000 is operating on the Gulf side of Mexico.
The President is fighting a valiant fight, but after years of powerful corruption, corrpution now may be to powerful. This may truly require the intevention of the Lady of Guadalupe again, as She came to stop the killing of babies, maybe She will return to stop the killing again.
You cannot do business in that environment because business does not exist. You either join with the rules of corrpution or you leave to save your life.

If you are making a veiled statement about our own government, then we can talk about elections - we still have power at the ballot box, as the recent elections have shown. Our revolution is in the voting booth.

Our police force does work for us, and there is no need to take the law into our own hands. That would be anarchy.

Mexico is a mess and there probably already would have been a revolution if our border wasn’t wide open for their healthy young men to flood over here instead of fixing their own country.

No, I am not talking about our government, as it still works pretty well. Just Mexico or maybe ancient Rome for example

Revolution is the answer and has been in Mexico before. I think that the interests who rule Mexico encourage illegal immigration to relieve pressure on a failing system. Think of a steam dump valve. Illegals in the US aren’t at home taking to the streets demanding reform and they won’t be taking matters into their own hands with rifles.

Thank you. There seem to be quite a few posters here who are so anti-capitalism that they are nearly anarchists.

Mexico has always been an oligarchy, so I think a revolution is really their only option at this point.

Now it is as some call it, a “narco-terrorist state.” Pretty frightening to have this on our southern border, and coming into our country more and more all the time.

I believe that law and power belong to the people so if you see an official misbehaving in the higher office, it is your duty as a good citizen to point him or her in the right direction. It is very easy to do that in the United States but not easy in countries like Mexico where government officials are the ones supplying drug devils with guns. The problem here is that, you may be putting yourself in great danger if you do it all by yourself. The best way is to get a greater portion of the people to support you. However, it is not easy to get people to support you in today’s life although people know you are for a good cause.
