Someone can certainly become a victim of a curse aside from this. This is when someone uses rituals and wishes harm to another. If a family member or someone close is doing these things, or practicing occult, it is smart to stay close to God and the sacraments and speak to a priest.

You can also obtain a St. Benedict medal or crucifix, and pray through him for protection, as well as pray through St. Michael, have a supply of Holy Water. Also you may consider purging your house of things this person has gifted you in the meantime.

Please, show me one official document of the Church that says my great great grandpa can throw a curse on me.

This thought has been around for a long time, Jesus answered the question in the Gospel of John, chapter 9.
 
Intergenerational curse or effect of sin, which can be repeated into the following generation. If one or both parents commit certain sin, depending on the nature of the sin, it is possible that a child or more, would commit the same sin in their life.

If you do not want to use the phrase intergenerational curse, you can call it the effect of sin in the family.

For example, if the father is a gambler, his child will be a gambler, or an adulterer or fornicator, etc. This can be explained psychologically as due to the environment in which the child grew up, but there is a spiritual dimension to it as well, which is not within the scope of this post.

The ‘curse’ can be broken by stopping the cycle, which causes it to happen.

I don’t know why people are blending the concept of punishment for sin with the effects of sin being actual.

Jesus said the blindness was not because of his or his parent’s sin.

It seems to me you’re confusing different concepts.

Person A casts a curse.
Person B is not punished for casting the curse, however if it is real, he may still be affected by the curse. He is not punished for casting a curse, because he didn’t.
 
Going back to asking for one official Church document that says one person can be tormented by a curse from his great-great uncle, grandfather, etc. Edited to add: that one person who is in friendship with God, lives a life where they confess sins and receive the Sacraments.

I’ve asked this before and the only things are the talks of a couple of “internet famous” priests. If there is something official I would be very interested to read it!

That is not an official document, official doctrine, etc. It is the opinion of one priest.
 
Generational curses are real. Spiritual warfare is real. Racism is a perfect example of a multi-generational curse that afflicts this nation. My parish had a Mass to heal multi-generational sins. Sins are associated with demons. Demons can and do attach themselves to individuals, nations, families, and generations. My family suffers from substance abuse, violence, sexual immorality, envy, etc. There has not been a family member in at least 4 generations where these sins did not afflict us. This is in spite of baptism and active church attendance. These sins entered our family tree a long time ago and have been passed supernaturally.

Regarding OP, I think this is an area of more speculative theology. So agreement here is going to be hard to come by.
 
I believe there are some references to curses in the Old Testament. But I’m not sure about official church documents.

Demonology is something that the Church has not written on very much throughout the 2000 years. There are, however, some documents that deal with the dangers inherent to the occult, which is the greater domain within which curses would fall.
 
The sin is incurred by believe that one has the “power” to do such things.
People can suffer because they are gullible and fearful.
We need not fear any righteous person. People in the past are deceased, and unless they are Saints in heaven, they have zero impact on us today. A good person in heaven ( a saint or a Saint) can assist us. Not curse.
 
The late Vatican appointed exorcist Fr. Amorth wrote this.
Curses
Curses invoke evil, and the origin of all evil is demonic. When curses are spoken with true perfidy, especially if there is a blood relationship between the one who casts them and the accursed, the outcome can be terrible.

Fr. Amorth stresses the fact that there are incredibly strong bonds between family members, and that curses that operate within these familial bonds or on a “special occasion,” e.g., a wedding, can have terrible consequences.

But the one applying the cursie is the prince of lies, I would expect and exorcist to say that. He deals with possession.
A person, an ordinary person has no ability to curse anyone.
