John 20:17
Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.

why did jesus said, “to my God and your god”

John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

why did jesus said, “the only true God” is the father

John 20:31
But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 10:34
Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, I have said you are gods”

why did jesus told the people “you are gods”

why did jesus said, “to my God and your god”

Jesus is fully God and fully Man, in this context he is speaking as a man.

why did jesus said, “the only true God” is the father

again Jesus is speaking as a man, John elsewhere says of Jesus,

John 1:18 (Contemporary English Version)

No one has ever seen God. The only Son, **who is truly God **and is closest to the Father, has shown us what God is like.

The concept of “Son of God” in Judaism of John’s day meant one was claiming to be God. John 5:18

why did jesus told the people “you are gods”

this is a quote from Psa 82, in John 10 Jesus is arguing from the lesser to the greater, proving that Jesus is God.

When you use one set of scriptures while ignoring others your theology gets out of balance.

Bottom Line, Jesus is fully God and he is fully Man.

He is not calling people Gods. This is a reference to the judges of Israel who, since they exercised the divine prerogative to judge (Dt 1:17) were called “gods” (Ex 21:6) besides (Ps82:6) from which it comes
