I am having a problem explaining to a pentacostal that JESUS used wine instead of grape juice at the Last Supper. He mentions that the bible says in the Old Testament that no fermented food is to be used for the celebration of Passover. Is this true?
I am in the process of learning English. So excuse my words!

Dear Luis,

This one is easy. It was only in the 20th century that the Welch’s Grape Juice people invented a way to preserve grape juice from fermenting into wine. They did so in an effort to celebrate the Lord’s supper without using wine. They were Protestants.

But the fact is, Jesus used wine—not grape juice. Actually wine is used for Passover as well. (Certainly, the Jews did not have a way of preserving grape juice either.) But even if they did not use wine, we are not obliged by all the prescriptions of the Old Law anyway. We live by the New Law.
