Hi all!

Recently I’ve been struggling with this feeling of indifference in my spiritual life. In my prayer, at Mass, usually all the time. I don’t have this zeal for Christ as I used to and I’m feeling myself getting jaded. How can I rekindle my love for Jesus and the Church? I pray the LOTH but I’m finding myself not looking forward to it and it’s really tough to say it. Do I just keep pushing through this dryness in my spiritual life? Any advice?

God bless you all and please pray for me!

It might help to remember that God seems to hide Himself from one from time to time as one draws closer to Him-to help one develop perserverance.

At Mass: Try to focus on all for whom you are offering the Mass for. ( and realize that all in heaven are with us at Mass)

*** During LOTH:*** I find it helps to realize that one’s pray is a part of the communion of Saints and somebody REALLY needs those particular prayers at this time, and that some Priests are unable to always pray them so that you may offer up your prayers on their behalf.

Always ask the Holy Spirit to guide you, and pray for you and with you.

Try spending some quiet time with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Often as possible and you will feel the difference. A Holy Hour is just that, a HOLY HOUR. Let Him speak to your heart! God Bless. Memaw

I was just about to post something similar on this forum myself about “going through the motions” in spiritual life. I was wondering, if you are finding the LOTH too routine if you thought about searching out other prayers\chaplets online or in books. If you search for prayers that really express where you want your relationship with Jesus to go, that in itself begins to open your heart (further) to him. Also, the very act of searching to increase your prayer knowledge means that you are thinking of God more in other parts of your life.

God Bless,

I would say the flip side to finding something new if you feel like you’re just going through the motions is to keep doing that–there’s nothing wrong with going through the motions if that’s all you can manage, it’s better than not praying at all. Don’t let a certain lack of excitement discourage you from still spending time with God. When we get to know people, when they become familiar to us, spending time with them doesn’t always carry with it fireworks, it just is what it is. The same is true of our relationship with God. Recognize that all prayer is a gift from him, even if it doesn’t feel amazing every time.

Have you truly and sincerely aksed our Lord for help? I somehow feel that if we ask Jesus, Jesus will help us. Also, I think we do not need any special skills to ask.

Good wishes to you.
