How to fight against reiki?

Where I work, somebody I care for has reiki every week. She has no capacity to even know what it is or to ask for it or against it. A member of staff long ago was obviously duped into believing in it. I would like to stop it but why would my atheist boss believe me when I say how bad it is. I’m sure the guy is nice but I feel unease around him.

She is however a Christian as she was brought up that way.

Other than prayer, what can I do about it?

What does your boss have to do with it? Why can’t you talk directly to the person having reiki?
 
Reiki is just pseudoscience, but it’s not going to hurt her. It’s just a massage with a bunch of hippie ideas about “energy” right?
 
Reiki is wrong. It’s part of a belief system. It’s not harmless. I would just pray for this person.
 
Reiki is evil, they call on spirits, the first spirit translates from Japanese as demon or master demon. Demon means evil spirit.

Even this website has a page talking about the dangers of it.
 
Mind your own business. With all due respect, I really think you should, as what another person does and how evil it is is not something you should give yourself a headache over. Just pray for the person undergoing Reiki. And keep in mind that the Japanese have a different understanding of demons, to them demons are merely spirits, they may be good or bad. Be careful not to view other cultures’ practices through a Catholic lens. It may be that Reiki is demonic, but I’m not educated on the matter enough to give an opinion. I suggest you try to find out Church teaching on the matter, and actively avoid it yourself. But all in all, in this case, you are not obliged to do anything, not even pray. It’s nothing you should concern yourself with.
 
I understand what you are saying but I have an extra responsibility over her (more than my colleagues) and due to her condition, even though she has no idea of what goes on, she is always very unsettled after he has been.
 
Since she is, as you say, unable to comprehend her situation, then I advise you to let the matter go. God knows her condition and judges her accordingly. And don’t underestimate God’s power, He may be working through Reiki to help your friend. Let’s not forget that God is Lord of everything, He oftens works His will through things we may see as wrong. How many times has something bad happened to you only for it to benefit you later on? And no, as I said, the most you can do( and you are not obliged to) is pray for her. Don’t go to the trouble of having a Mass said for someone ostensibly incapable of understanding what it is.

MYOB means “Mind Your Own Business”.

If you are worried about this lady being influenced by the demonic, the best thing to do is to pray for her and let God, Mary and St. Michael handle it. The Lord protects fools and children, as the proverb says.

It’s perfectly okay to have a Mass said for her or to just go to a Mass yourself and offer it for her. You don’t need to tell her you’re doing this. I offer Masses for people all the time. You can also say other prayers for her, anything you like.

Is there any version of a spiritually neutral “reiki” akin to paganism-free yoga?
 
Doesn’t seem like it. Reiki is based on pseudoscientific “energies.” So it doesn’t matter either way, it’s just a fancy hocus pocus massage. Yoga, at least, has some physical benefits.
 
He doesn’t massage, he doesn’t touch them, he places his hands above them and does some incantations with creepy music.
