What is the best way to get information on the types of masses that take place in Indianapolis. For instance, I like traditional masses and am getting tired of all the applause, hand holding, and borderline “concert-like” music that permeates the local masses.

Any help in pointing me in the right direction toward a “quiet mass” or at least a more traditional one is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Well, you can ask around, as you’re doing now. Or you can just go and see for yourself what is happening at one church or another.

But generally, around the US, you’ll find the early morning masses the quietest, those before 8 a.m. Sunday evening last-chance masses are also often quieter as they draw a more diverse crowd not necessarily from the parish, and where people don’t know each other that well, they are less likely to be that familiar.

Here’s the website for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis:

You can find parish contact information here. This website doesn’t appear to be as user friendly as my archdiocese website here in Houston, but you can at least get telephone #'s and make calls to find out where you can find a parish with a Latin Mass. Holy Rosary Indianapolis appears to have a daily Latin Mass:
www.holyrosaryindy.org This looks like a very nice church!

There’s only one church in all of Houston I’ve found that offers the Tridentine Mass, but I think it’s only on Sunday. I attend the Latin Novus Ordo Mass at my church lately, I’m so glad to have the choice to do so! The brothers sing Gregorian chant! It’s so lovely!

I hope you find a more comforable place to worship! This is really very very important!

:blessyou:

Why don’t you call the Archdiocese? I have found the people in our office really know what’s going on in most if not all the Churches, they may give you some great advice and very quickly. I would assume they are very nice people eager to help!
