Hello all, I know that one can gain the plenary indulgence (when the other usual conditions are fulfilled) if you cannot be present in person for the pope’s Easter “Urbi et Orbi” blessing - by listening to it LIVE on TV, radio, internet, etc.

Does anybody know where I can find it online at the appointed time this year? I am planning to set my alarm to whatever time for which it is planned so I can receive it!

I am going to go to Vatican radio on the internet, but I have no idea what time I should be listening. If anybody can help, thanks!!

Have you checked out EWTN’s website?, you may be able to get it via that.

The Pope delivers the Easter Urbi et Orbi blessing at noontime in Rome. The time difference between Rome and EST is 6 hours. So, for example, if you live in New York, you would listen in at 6am. in Chicago it would be 5am; Denver-4am; Los Angeles-3am]. You can watch it on the Vatican’s CTV site as well as EWTN.

Click on Live Programmes and find the box that says Urbi et Orbi.
Hope this helps.

Frosty, thanks a million! There was an extra “http” in your link - anybody who used the link, just erase the extra one, and it will take you to the site.

On my computer, I found a direct feed to St. Peter’s square live:

mediastream.vatican.va/mpeg4dsl.sdp

I imagine this is where we can see and receive the blessing on Sunday morning.

Thanks again, both of you! This is great!

Thanks again to everybody for your help - just a follow up: I managed to receive the blessing on Easter morning very early. I ended up using the Vatican website webcam.

Now I’m ready when Christmas rolls around, too!
