How is it possible to forgive when you can’t let go of the hate. I pray for my abuser but I feel the same

Our Lord told this to St. Faustina

I think you’re good 🙂

Forgiveness is an act of will not emotion. You can forgive, pray for the person and move on.

Forgiveness is an act of will not emotion. You can forgive, pray for the person and move on.
…and to put this in perspective, love is a act of will and not an emotion also.

Peace!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your suffering. Sadly; there seems very little justice in this world; and people often have the right to be angry.

I think it helps to understand who suffers the most from your anger and hate, it will probably not be your abuser. The person who angers you, controls you, it is as if they have a little remote control that always makes you feel angry. They could be a thousand miles away, or even dead.

Anger is like picking up a burning coal; with the intention of throwing it at the person who angers you; and the person who gets burned the most is you. The longer you hang onto this burning coal of anger, the hotter it becomes; it eats away at you.

Your hate is preventing you from being the kind and caring person you want to be. Only forgiveness sets you free.

Personally, I like to think of forgiveness as saying “I would hope that God will forgive this person and please let them get to Heaven”.

It’s not really about feeling very close to someone, as others have said. It’s more about wanting to see them succeed in faith or saying that you are willing to accept what they’ve done, and now move forward from here, even if “here” in your relationship is rock bottom and you feel that hatred.

I’ve had people say insensitive things to me (at work, school etc). At the time, I said I wouldn’t trust them to talk to them again. But then I see the good in them in the relationships they have with others and I realize we’re all mostly good people and it’s really a shame to say “I don’t want this person in my life again, not ever.” You’ll miss out on the good things about them.

Keep praying, look after yourself and give yourself time. It can be a process rather than something which happens instantly.

There is but it requires work to get rid of the pain. i know i do it all the time and i get complete freedom. Note: I am withholding how to do it.

Sometimes you need to focus on processing the pain in order to start forgiving.

To err is human and to forgive is Divine. We only have to follow Jesus example and use our will and desire to forgive He will do the rest.as in Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing.
Only when Job forgave God Blessed Job back twice.God Bless

Job 42:10 And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he had prayed for his friends; and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
