So I’ve read that a Jubilee Medal of St. Benedict has no particular prayer associated with it, unlike most other sacramentals and that you can apparently slip it onto people to try to get them grace to convert or be strong against temptation and the such.
First off: is this true?

Second: where can I find such medals (both for myself and, if the answer to the first question is yes, to try to get them to other people who are catholic but drifted away from Church teaching or who are in a state of sin (by their own admission))

Third: if the answer to question 1 is yes, how is one to go about getting these medals to people who would probably turn them down?

Thanks, y’all!

That’s not true. The St. Benedict medal has a specific blessing associated with it. You can find it here: osb.org/gen/medal.html That page also has links to suppliers of inexpensive medals. If you’re looking for a higher quality medal, I got mine from these people: chainzonline.com/saint-benedict-medals.html

St. Benedict medals – or any other sacramentals – are not magic. I know your intentions are good, but you can’t “slip it onto people to try to get them grace to convert.” Much more effective would be to talk with people about your faith, answer their questions, invite them to Mass or other activities – in other words, take an interest in them and their needs. And pray for them!

At some point, they may express an interest in learning more or doing more. And that would be the time to offer them a medal if they would like one with an explanation about who St. Benedict is and why he inspires you.

The St. Benedict medal/cross is a favoured weapon of choice for many exorcists precisely because of the powerful prayers inscribed on them. As stated by SuscipeMeDomine, you should read the link posted regarding the many inscriptions on them 🙂

Wow, you’re not kidding! Awesome inscriptions, indeed! It never occurred to me to look up those inscriptions, but I’m glad I did now! 🙂

Thx SuscipeMeDomine for the link! 👍
