Any book recommendations or practical advice on how to grow in virtue? Emphasis on practical.
 
Start with prayer. It’s always good to pray before you do something. Ask the Lord to make you into the man/woman He wants you to be. That’s something I have prayed for before and it worked. The Lord gave me a strong hatred for things that are sinful. He told me to get rid of all the blasphemous music I used to listen to, so I did.

Perhaps the Lord will call you to move into a higher dimension of faith. You never know until you pray about it. Make sure to emphasize the fact that you want to be who God wants you to be-- not who you want to be. 🙂

Hey Miles :),

I’ve recommended this book more times than I can count or remember, but it’s 100% beautifully practical. It’s gorgeously written and structured, and such a moving book that it’s immersive in a way I’ve never encountered anywhere else. But practical, utilitarian knowledge is it’s byword, it’s overriding dictum and principle. It’s changed me in a way I love, and I heartily recommend it to you :):

A very basic method of growing in virtue is by personally helping the poor in your town. You will grow in holiness by doing so, and come to a much better understanding of why God has commanded us to do so. You have to do so on a personal basis to grow in holiness, not just cut a check and drop it into a collection basket or mail it to a charitable organization. Almsgiving is a very good deed, but you grow in virtue by personally helping those in need.
