How to Handle Neighbors Dogs

Well, if we’re coming down to life and death, by all means kill it. Otherwise, take it one step at a time. We’re not at DEFCON 1 yet…

Yes. I would say it is best to shoot any vicious attack dog. Otherwise he might attack, kill and chew up your young child.

You should never announce your intentions to kill someone’s pet. Now, it’ll appear premeditated! Not to mention, they might return fire! Get the Police!
 
Try mothball crystals. It keeps the neighbors dog from pooping in our front yard.

You can buy pepper spray at Walmart, at least in this area, and there are plenty of gun shops around. The way I figure it, it is better to have a dead dog instead of a dead child. And since police do nothing until the dog attacks and kills the child, I don’t see the alternative.

PET???

Some giant mastiff that guards flocks of sheep … is not some lap dog … and when it gets loose and attacks the neighbors???

Perhaps her neighbours come up with something we haven t considered. Who knows.
It could be a good shared decision after many ideas. Perhaps put in place more than one.
 
Last year my neighbor 2 doors down has a pit bull that got into my next door neighbors yard and killed his chocolate lab. Then it proceeded to the chain link fence at my property line and was snarling at my children playing outside. I was inside the house and had no idea what was going on until they ran in and told me. I am grateful they weren’t hurt. I called my next door neighbor at work but it was too late. They cried watching our neighbor dig a hole and bury his chocolate lab.

The police came and animal control came and the dog was back in my neighbor’s yard two doors down in 24 hours. They only confiscated the dog for 24 hours!

That weekend I bought a shotgun and some shells. I went to a friend’s house in the country and practiced with it (I hadn’t shot a shotgun in years). I know what that dog is capable of and need to be able to protect us if God forbid need be.

Prior to this the dog had gotten out, but it was never officially documented, so the police viewed it as a first offense type situation. Document. Document. Document. My neighbor next door was told his only recourse was to get a lawyer and file a civil suit to sue for the cost of the chocolate lab. But we all know that doesn’t bring the poor dog back.

If your ordinances do not allow a taller fence, see if they would allow razor wire or barbed wire along the top or the bottom. Man, I really feel for you. My kids were scared for a good while to even play in our backyard for fear of that dog. It’s awful selfish of people to keep these dogs.

And there may be an unexpected answer. For instance,the dog behind our home once turned out to be there only temporarily. It belonged to the lady’s son who was on a honeymoon. This was just noise with a tin plate 24/7/ Easily solved.
We do not know if they are on a lease,or owners,or a lot of things that may crop up in. conversation.

No dog big or small should be loose. If it attacks and kills another dog on another property it should be shot.

Well, I was and it’s not humorous!

I was pinned between a wall and my car. My only defense was a trash can that I was holding between me and it.

It believed it was defending its territory.

What are my alternatives?

You only have a few seconds to hold it off … or you may die.

Get a hold of yourself! Nowhere have I made light of your encounter! I believe YOU 😐

It doesn’t matter what you or I think 😠 The owner will still say that their “pet” is harmless and precious.

You’ve gone from advocating poisoning someone’s pet to a life threatening situation. 🤔 If you’re being attacked, kill the blasted thing if you must. Otherwise, utilize the Police and a Lawyer.

You have five seconds to react. At this point it is not a pet. You are pinned. No going inside to fetch a weapon. Or to call the police … besides he IS the police.
