How to have a close relationship with the Blessed Virgin?

Greetings,

I have been wondering what actions one could take in order to have a close (or closer) relationship with the Blessed Virgin. I say the rosary daily and wear a miraculous medal. Aside from that, I think that is all I do to honour her. I want to have a special relationship with her as many people and the Saints do but I am not sure how to. Are there any more devotions I can make or anything I can do aside from these two? ANy help would be much appreciated:thumbsup:

There is the St. Louis Marie de Montfort’s book “True Devotion to Mary”, where (I believe it is thirty days) there are readings and prayers to be said for each week.

Another good book is Father Michael Gaitley’s book “33 Days to Morning Glory”.

Both devotions have brought many blessings to me.

When one is drawn to such devotions it usually works that one repeats them every once in a while. In doing so, new insights are discovered.

You’re doing fine.
Go to Mass as often as you can, frequent Adoration.
Nothing honors Mary than loving her Divine Son with all your heart.

Maybe read some good books on her approved apparitions, but from your many threads…I think you’re on fire right now. I pray you don’t burn out.

I found that once I became* enrolled in the Brown Scapular* of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (see the linked article in oldgraymare’s post # 3) , I became more consistent in my daily recitation of the Holy Rosary, and it appears that my devotion to our Blessed Mother has deepened because of it too.

Our love for Our Lady grows the same way it grows with anybody: by communing with her. The more time we spend with her in prayer, the more familiar and safe we become with her. Mary loves spending time with us under the protection of her wing. Every facet of us is beautiful to her, because she sees God. Our sin is immaterial against the love in Heaven.

There are numerous devotions you can use to go about this, or you can just pray. Becoming more knowledgeable on Mariology (which as ST JPII pointed out, is ultimately Christological) will help refine you as well in going about it. Spiritual reading is extremely valuable.

It is recommended that our prayer lives be a combination of routine prayer and spontaneous prayer. We need a set time each day where we are habituated to commune with God and his saints. Communing with a saint is also communion with God: prayers flow up the way water flows down.
 
Pray the Rosary.

The Blessed Virgin has led me to great gifts of The Trinity.

Give thanks often.
 
I went on a 4 hour walking pilgrimage to a Church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin with intention on being more closer to Our Holy Mother. With me I took a small statue of Our Lady Of Fatima and when I arrived, I went to pray in front of Her statue, I attended a Mass and asked a priest to bless my little statue. While walking I prayed the rosary.

Ever since then, I really feel Her a lot closer to me and I have a lot more confidence in her and trust in her powerful intercession.

It’s very pleasing to Our Lady, our Mother, that you pray the RosarI y and wear the miraculous medal.

I would encourage you to invoke Mary frequently, depending on her as little children depend on their mothers.

As others have said, reading True Devotion to Mary and making the consecration to Jesus through her is a wonderful step.

Also, the book the Glories of Mary would give you many ideas and insights about Mary, how much she loves you, and how to honor her.

There’s also a little book you can get called “Mary Day by Day” which has brief readings from the saints for each day of the year. I like that too.

I’m so glad that you pray the Rosary and wear the Miraculous Medal!
