My sister recently got married. No one in the family liked him or how my sister acted when he was around. My parents have always been supportive and could never be rude or disrespectful. My sister decided to move out of state and attend a school knowing my parents could not financially support her or the school. Both my sister and boyfriend are living together, not good with handling their own money wisely and struggle financially. My parents were happy to help with the wedding costs where they could. When the wedding came closer my parents started to find out that she had largely lied about cost to con my parents out of money. My sister has always lied and used my parents for years. But this event caused them to realize how much she lies to them with out care of their feeling. My parents have always given us what they could, financially and emotionally. They now feel they have failed to teach her correctly in faith and that they are too late. I understand that they can cut her out because she is their daughter but what can they or myself do to help her realize how much she has hurt the two people that love her the most? I have personally cut her out of my life due to the abuse I have endued for years. But I will do anything to help them and kept all of our faiths strong.

It sounds as though right now, the best you can do is to pray for her. Neither you nor your parents are under any obligation to allow her to abuse or cheat you. Perhaps after a while, she will realize she misses her family. If she tries to re-start the relationship, you can explain to her how hurtful her actions were.

It must be really hard on them to have to cut ties with their own daughter. I think that besides praying for them, the best thing you can do is simply be there for them emotionally and give them your time and attention.

But, your whole family should leave their/your checkbooks, credit and debit cards, at home. And carry a minimal amount of cash!
