That was a squirrel? How’d he get in my chicken coop?
After an operation (cancer in the ureter) I was talking with my general physician who asked me “anything else?” I brought up my issue of adhd and asked to see the shrink. Being this is the VA, I ended up with a first generation Chinese resident and after a long question and answer period, she eventually put me on Wellbutrin as she diagnosed me as depressed. All that did was shorten my memory.
Next time I got the chief of psychiatry, a nice older woman. I went through the whole scenario and ended up with the following: “Well, I can understand why she thought wellbutrin woud assist any depression; it gave me CRS!”
“CRS??”
“Yeah. Can’t Remember S^&t”
She laughed so hard I though she was going to fall off her chair. Said she had never heard that one. She admitted that adhd was not her specialty (I should have taken note right then and there) and told me absolutely no cold turkey on the Welbutrin and gave me Ritalin.
The next time I saw her, I thanked her for the work she did with vets (ptsd), assured her that was not my issue, I assured her that Ritalin only interfered with my sleep and said “No!” to being a pharmacological study. So I go it alone with a few suggestions from the book to temper it all down.
I have learned coping mechanisms, and have great sympathy for anyone else who has that ever present.
