Any recommendations on books/documents that one could read to learn about the Liturgy?
Specifically, I want to understand more of what’s going on, so as to participate more fully.
Where do I start?

Thanks!
God Bless

Catholicism for Dummies; Rev. John Trigilio Jr , Rev Kenneth Brighenti, Wiley Publishing…
Forgive the title, it implies nothing…chapter 8 “Celebrating the Catholic Mass”
Also, Ignatius Press offers books about the Litrugy as, I’m confident, do other Catholic publishing houses.

The How-To Book of the Mass: Everything You Need to Know but No One Ever Taught You, by Michael Dubruiel

Have you checked the Liturgy Education Links at the top of this page?

baltobetsy, i just found those haha

what im really looking for is more of an in depth kind of thing.
ive read how to book of the mass.
i mean i want to know about the ins and outs of liturgy. the beauty of it, where this and that comes from, why that. ya know?
ive read that Scott Hahn talks about in his recent book Letter and Spirit that in one of the chapters, he talks about the liturgy as our first line of spiritual warefare.
maybe THAT woudl be a good book to educate one’s self, because isnt the liturgy the entire topic of the book?
your thoughts?

The Spirit of the Liturgy; Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger

The Mass of the Early Christians; Mike Aquilina

How the Mass Came to Be; Pierre Loret, C.SS.R.

The last source is a pamphlet from Liguori Publications. Also, if you go to New Advent.org and type in ‘The Mass’ you will find info on history, liturgy, music, etc.

The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn. I wish I could give this book to every catholic I know.

thanks everyone! i have lamb’s supper, read it loved it. will prolly re read it at some point. have spirit of the liturgy. read half of it, loved what i read but it was hard to follow cuz i wasnt reading it diligently enough. need to start over and re-read it.
the www.newadvent.org idea was a good one. thank you!

Oh and also, I forgot to mention a book I can actually recommend to anyone looking to educate themselves further on the Mass.
Preparing Yourself for Mass by Romano Guardini
Incredible meditations that could be read before Mass starts, or just could be read like any other book. Learned a LOT about the Mass from this particular gem.
Emphasis on gem.
