I feel that I married the wrong man 5 years ago when I was 24, and I feel that I knew better. We dated for 5 yrs (I was 19) and broke up many times because I felt that we were a mismatch (spiritually, relationally, educationally, sexually). My gut always told me ‘no’. He was agnostic when we met, went through RCIA before we married and is passive about his faith–no surprise there and I don’t blame him. I feel like I ignored the writing on the wall. We kept getting back together because he wouldn’t “let me go” and I was weak and felt sorry for hurting him. I also felt that he was very forward sexually, would always “push the envelope” and as a result we wanted to get married so that we could finally consummate our relationship since I was all about waiting till marriage (him not so much). We have two beautiful kids and I don’t want to get annulled for their sake. He’s not a bad person, we just have very little in common and definitely started off on the wrong foot. How do I live the profound disappointment and regret that I face daily for having married the wrong person? How do I make peace with my choices?
