How to love Jesus and the Eucharist more?

How can I learn to love Jesus and the Eucharist more? I’ve come back to the faith after so many years of doubting God, and it’s like I have to re-learn everything I learned in CCD classes. But I want to love Jesus and Holy Communion more! There are some ladies at my parish who literally lay on the floor and kiss the ground for Jesus, and they do it with so much love and compassion, especially when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, and I constantly pray and pray that I may one day love him as much as they do. They cry tears of joy, tears after tears of joy, and I look up to them so much. Do you think one day I’ll be like them? I want to love him more than anything in this world. But how!!!
 
Pray for the grace to love Jesus and the Eucharist more!

That’s not a flippant reply - I’m totally serious. Years ago I was reflecting on who/what I love most in this world and in a moment of complete honesty, I realized I did not love God most of all.

I prayed for Him to change my heart; to help me love Him more than anyone or anything. I prayed for the grace to grow in love for Him.

It is a gradual process, but I can honestly say He has answered my prayer. And why wouldn’t He? I believe it is His will for us to love Him with all of our mind, heart & soul and I believe He is very pleased to answer such a prayer.

Be consoled. Your desire to love Our Blessed Lord is pleasing to Him. It is a sign of faith. Your desire to love Him is not insignificant; it is significant. It signifies that you know He is loveable, indeed is THE most loveable. Do not underestimate your desire. It is a wonderful grace given to you to even have this desire. Without God granting you this grace you would not even have the desire.

If I were you I would go to Adoration VERY frequently, say 3 to 4 times per week. Make time for the Lord. Be in His presence. Just being in His Eucharistic presence is very healing and nurturing. Just sit. Go to Mass VERY frequently and partake of the Eucharist every time, say again 3 to 4 times per week. Avoid sin. It is poison and will prevent any growth in love from happening. Every time we take holy communion or adore the Lord in the Eucharist we grow in love, in our capacity to love. How is this? Because we become conformed to Christ; in a sense we become Him - He in us and we in Him. The more often we communicate with Jesus (in Eucharist and Adoration), assuming the correct disposition of course, the more Christ-like we become.

Mass, Adoration, Rosary, Divine Mercy, Spiritual reading and avoiding sin like the plague as well as PATIENCE will see you growing in love of the Blessed Eucharistic Lord.

Jesus longs so much for us to go to Him and spend time with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. Such is His great love for us that He rewards us abundantly for the little time we spend with Him.

O if we only knew Who dwells there, if we really KNEW, we would never leave the tabernacle. My Jesus forgive me for all those hours spent away from you when I could have been with you in the Blessed Sacrament in your tabernacle. I love you Jesus. I adore you Jesus.

May the Lord Bless you as you journey and grow in love of Him who is our All.
 
And don’t forget adoration counts even when the Blessed Sacrament is not exposed. Spirit’s suggestions are very wise: regular Mass (once a week is a minimum, more is better). Try for as close to daily as possible. Not necessarily for life, but at least for a while to strengthen your faith. Regular confession. Rosary. Maybe try Daily Office. Read the Bible together with a decent commentary, read the lives of saints who had great love of Our Lord.
 
I agree with all that is said above. If you look up to those ladies so much, why not ask them? Assuming they are as devoted as you say i don’t think they would mind being asked 😉

And your yearning to get closer to God is an excellent start. Pray and keep at it. It may take a while but ask for grace and patience. Try focusing on what goes on during the Eucharist. Imagine it like it was years ago with Christ and his disciples. Imagine it happening in heaven at that exxact moment because it is. Also what helps for me is not trying to do it all alone. find a friend or family member and invite them to get closer to God along with you.

I have recently been reborn in my faith and have a new perspective. I’ve always been a Catholic and went to Mass every Sunday but it wasn’t until Stuebenville this past summer that I started understanding and actually getting excited for my faith. I feel much closer to God and I wouldnt be where i am if it wasnt for a friend of mine. I’ve been involved with my youth group and i’ve known him since kindergarten. However this year we started going to weekly Mass together and do a lot of church/youth events together. It’s helped a lot. 😃

I meant to say also; do not put yourself under any ‘pressure’ to reach a certain level or intensity of love for Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament by a certain time for to do so risks discouragement and would be a mistake. Bear in mind rather that it is God who comes to us FIRST. We simply entrust ourselves to His loving care. It is He who initiates the work; we co-operate. When the Lord sees our desire to love Him, knowing our weakness and littleness He is full of compassion and tenderness. He will guide us and lead us to Himself in HIS time, not ours. Trust in Him.

He will not fail you. By putting our trust in Him and by remaining close to Him in the Sacraments, particularly the Mass and the Eucharist and strengthened by prayer, we cannot fail or stray from the right path.👍
