My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
It’s a devotion. You won’t find authoritative documents on this. How does one make an Act of Spiritual Communion? I’d prefer answers to come from an authoritative document, an authoritative person, or the Saints.
Thanks in advance!![]()

And even those prayers have variations. I’ve written my own and made them up on the spot too! If you want to make An Act of Charity (for example) and can’t remember the “set” words, pray from your heart. Thanks everyone! I didn’t realize that there was no actual set words. I thought that it was like an Act of Contrition, an Act of Charity, etc. Thanks again!

For each of the 31 days of the month, St. Alphonsus provides for us a “Visit to Our Lord” - which is a brief meditation on and a fervent prayer of love toward Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Each Visit to Our Lord is followed by a “Visit to Our Lady.” The latter are short meditations on and prayers of great confidence in her powerful help - even for the most wretched and forsaken on sinners. At each Visit, the reader is to make an “Act of Spiritual Communion,” which will help enflame his heart with greater love of God.
Small enough to keep in my car’s glovebox.![]()
