So coming up in February, my husband and I will be celebrating a decade of married love! ❤️ 😃

Many of you know I’m out of commission for the next several months or more for health reasons. We are also now a one income family and will have a freak ton of medical bills piled up these next few months, including major surgery and likely hospital stay.

We never had a honeymoon. 😦 We were hoping to for our tenth but life (my health really :o) got in the way and there is no chance of that happening now or in the foreseeable future.

How can we make our 10th anniversary special when we have no money and I probably won’t be able to go out anywhere (even locally) yet.

Ideas??? 😃

If it was me, I’d order Cheesecake Factory and watch South Pacific. That’s what we did for the Valentine’s Day we had to spend in the hospital with my daughter.

We also played Connect Four from the Child Life room, but that’s an acquired taste.

I like the “order dinner from a place you really like and rent/buy a movie you love” idea!

Alternately, depending on how you’re feeling, you could make definite plans to go out and do something you enjoy at some point in the future. I don’t have endo, so this might be a stupid comment and if so ignore it, but if you have “good” days and “bad” days, perhaps pick a “good” day, tell your DH to take a half day from work, and then go see or do whatever you’d like: go to a particular movie and dinner, say, or see the local botanical gardens in the fall, or spend the afternoon at the zoo. Less pressure that way then “I have to feel good on X date or I’ll ruin our anniversary!” when of course you don’t have any control over that anyway.

This sounds great to me as well!

I’d curl up with a library or Redbox movie (there are frequently discount or free codes, see this for example. )

If ordering out is possible if it’s less costly, Groupons or LivingSocial deals sometimes can be used for takeout. 🙂

Also, just ordering dessert from your favorite place could be an option, with money tight. For example, dropping $100 on a really fancy meal might well be out of budget for most of us, but $15 on some massively-overpriced-but-seriously-addictive cheesecake might be doable. 😃

ETA: Also, you can get quite a lot of movies via inter-library loan, so if your particular library location doesn’t have what you’d like, do an online search–another location may, and they can send it to yours for free. It often takes a week or more to get, though, so you’d need to plan ahead.

My apologies in advance for not knowing well about your health issues. If I say something that can’t be done because of it, please disregard it!

Put on the living room floor a bed comforter and some pillows if you want. Make some hot milk & chocolate and play some board game (if you have scrabble, you can use sexy/flirty words…) or watch a movie with lights off. Make love there too (if you can).

Watch the sunset and start stargazing.

Go to a free entry museum or zoo.

I love inter-library loan.

This sounds wonderful! Probably have to forgo the zoo part, and I’m not sure if we’ll be able to DTD by then, but cuddles for sure!

Thank you all so much for the great ideas! Seems like cuddles, take out and a movie is the general consensus here. 👍

Im thinking maybe a private at home vow renewal might be appropriate, even if we can’t make love afterwards. 😛

When DH and I were newly weds, we’d celebrate New Years Eve alone at home. Take out, and then a movie snuggling on the couch.

There are also some pretty nice desserts at a good grocery store, either in the bakery or the frozen section.

I’ve lately been eyeing a pumpkin cheesecake in our bakery section.

I also am planning to get the Goda massager kit for Valentine’s. The head massager is apparently AMAZING. The set is $12 on Amazon. But it might not be suitable if follow-through isn’t possible.

Dipping strawberries in melted chocolate could be romantic.

Are there any university or college music departments around your area? They usually offer good choral or orchestral concerts for free, or on special occasions (such as scholarship raising, around holidays, etc.) for a nominal price. Large works, such as university opera performances, are usually a decent price.

Whipped cream would be REALLY good with those strawberries as well 😃

(And incidentally, whipped cream is one of those multi-purpose foods 😉 )

Order take out from your favorite restaurant. Either binge watch your favorite TV shows or watch a movie.

When your health is better, you can always do something else in addition to the above, like going to a museum, etc.
