To be honest, sometimes I feel like I just don’t care if something is “sinning” against God.
Of course,I don’t like hurting people etc but I mean for things like so-called sexual sins,I’m in a generation still where it is all seen as normal etc.To not have any “sexual needs” as is supposed to be for single people in Catholic religion just seems unrealistic.
I’m baptised Catholic but not deeply religious.
Is there a way to “force” yourself to love God/His ways when you don’t really care?

I don’t like hurting people
It’s good to detest sin insomuch as it hurts other people, but consider that the one hurt most by sin is Jesus Himself, every sin we commit adds to the sufferings he endured during His holy passion, and even though it is very difficult to avoid sin altogether, especially venial sins, however, it is the sins which we commit carelessly and knowingly that offend God the most, to fall through weakness does not offend God nearly as much as those sins committed on purpose.
But then you might ask, why does sin offend God so much? what’s the big deal?
well, for one, God hates sin because it hurts us too, sin effects our heart, mind, and soul, and likewise hurts those around us because it gives bad example and may temp others to sin as well, and if God is love, and loves us, how could He ever be ok with us hurting ourselves and others? but even more than that, God hates sin because it separates us from Him, He wants to be with us, more so than we can even comprehend, and there is so much we don’t understand when it comes to offending Him, though He has revealed to us more than enough to convince us not to want to offend Him…
i’m sure this brings up many more questions, but i just wanna move on to your main question regarding sins of the flesh.

the marital act was created by God, and belongs to Him, not us, we use it only as He has commanded, and He has commanded that it be used only in marriage, between and man and a woman, for the procreation and education of children, and the mutual love of husband and wife,
the sinfulness of taking the sexual pleasures outside of marriage consists in setting in motion the generative powers while preventing them from achieving their natural, divinely intended purpose, and it is seeking the pleasures of sex for yourself alone, which degrades it’s intended beauty and holiness which God intended it for,
sex without love is an enslavement, whether with someone else or by yourself, if you are doing it for selfish reasons then it will enslave you, which i’m sure you will have no trouble seeing and understanding as soon as you try to refrain yourself from any impure thought or action.
if you think you are “free” by being able to commit this sin, you are mistaken, because, as i said, to commit it is an enslavement, you are trapped by it, how is that freedom? true freedom is the ability to do what is right, not to do what you want.
we are weak to sin because of our fallen human nature, we are often slaves to our passions, but if, by the grace of God, we can get control of ourselves, then that is true freedom, our passions enslave us, because they prompt us to sin whether we want to or not, but being good is something we only do if we want to! that is freedom.

of course the world will tell you these sins are ok, they say it’s natural, it’s healthy, but that is coming from a society already *very *corrupt in *every *kind of sin there is, do you really think you can reasonably trust advice coming from such a self loving source which not only rejects Gods teachings, but encourages us to hate Him by our sins? you are Catholic, and you have the Church to guide you, Christ sent the Holy Spirit to teach and Guide the church, doesn’t that seem more trustworthy and worth following than a corrupt and sinful society?
God loves us enough to warn us about sin and it’s consequences, He gives us what we need, if we are open to it, to overcome sin and go to heaven to be with Him forever, happy and never to suffer again…but what does society offer us? the same as the devil, enjoy yourself now, this short moment in eternity, and don’t worry about where it will lead you…who is your true friend? those who say, i love you, lets go to hell together? or…i love you, i want to help you get to heaven…we must decide who we want to follow, and who we want to be, and if we consider what both sides have to offer, the decision is not a hard one, though following may be an ongoing struggle…

The church recommends that parents either send their children to a good Catholic school, or home school, for the very reason that it is easy for a young persons morals to be corrupt in a public school or even a Catholic school which is corrupt itself…and we see that today very clearly, we live in a time where innocence is scarce, and even looked down upon, and most children, even very young children, are taught the very opposite of what God teaches regarding holy purity…

and regarding how to make yourself love God? you need to pray, ask Him to help you love Him, and get a spiritual director(usually a priest) to help you and answer your questions and concerns,
also, meditate on the passion of Jesus, that alone can give you every reason you need to love God.
and i would recommend reading from good Catholic literature, such as a good catechism like “this is the faith”(one of my favorites), or any book that catches your interest on www.tanbooks.com
or look up videos of shows of Fulton J. Sheen, very very good teacher of the faith.
i’m afraid i have to end it here, gotta get started on lunch, but i am happy to speak with you further on this if you wish.
take care 🙂

In Jesus's time, people got married YOUNG compared to today. Mary was either 12, 13, or 14 years old when she gave birth to Jesus. That was about marrying age- therefore, about the time humans start to develop "sexual needs"... so that there alone should reassure you that God doesn't 'ban' sexual desire. Its our modern culture that has screwed it up. Usually a person was an adult by the time they reached sexual maturity- these days, I'm not sure people reach sexual maturity until their mid fifties. (being a little facicious here, but I think you know what I mean)
If its sexual sin that you have doubts about ‘hating’, the number one thing everyone should remember about sin is this: God would not tag anything a sin that would bring good to us and not hurt us in some way. The 10 commandments were not there for God to be some sort of sticker for detail, but warning us as a father of those things that would hurt us. They are there to keep us safe… and others! You have to look at sin in that way to open the door to understanding it, otherwise, it just seems like a harsh God with ridiculous rules that don’t make any sense- especially when it comes to sex- lets face facts- it can feel very right to go ahead and indulge… but is it really good for you? Same with eating junk food- it can feel good at the time, but over time is only when we see we should not have eaten all those extra chips and cookies as it hurts our bodies by depleting nutrition rather than eating the right foods to nourish. (that’s why its called junk food- it does nothing for the body and eating is for nourishing the body)
Code:
Also, believe it or not, there is no such thing as 'sexual needs". Otherwise, those who are severely handicapped,- physical or mentally- those who do not have function or the ability to create relationships- would develop more severe problems. This isn't to say they don't suffer from loneliness and have desires, OR even that they coudln't get married because a lot do, but that its not a need just like if you cut out chocolate chip cookies for the rest of your life you aren't going to develop severe complications from it even though you may still have desires for it throughout the rest of your life. Its just a fallacy, this belief that people have sexual needs and is often used as an excuse to sin. Just like one who decides to put away junk food and eat a healthy diet, so too can a person put away those things of a sexual nature. Its suppression to ignore it, its not suppression to transform it. (And that is even written about in other religions to do as such, that it is possible and even beneficial so its not just Christianity touting the idea of celibacy.)
When you start to SEE how sin affects you, and others and people in general is when you will not want to do them anymore, and, because of that, you love God more for the instruction because the instruction is there to keep everyone from harm… not keep you from pleasure or enjoyment. Sin cuts deep and its ripple effect goes long- even the small stuff. If you ate 3 whole pizzas, you probably enjoyed the lot of them, but later, you may throw up, have stomach pains. If you do it often enough, you may develop gout- a painful condition where you then can’t eat ANYTHING with high amounts of fat in it… You might become obese, not able to move around easily and get to the point where you didn’t even really enjoy eating those pizzas but just felt like you needed to eat that because that’s what you always ate…* so why eat them then if you didn’t enjoy it? Better yet, why** didn’t **you enjoy it!? *

Sin means you are taking something good and abusing what is good- its an abuse of something- and if you abuse something, over time, it becomes broken. It won’t function right anymore and sadly sometimes you can’t get it back in working order. Sin done repetitively becomes commonplace- you won’t recognize it and you won’t even realize what you are missing until you repent and live without doing it. The rewards usually far outweigh what the sin ‘promised’ you, even though it may take time (and hard work) to see or feel the results.

If you are plagued by sexual desires then start focusing on the vocation of marriage and prepare for it. Like all good gifts in life, if you don’t have a place prepared for it, or a way to take care of it, its going to get damaged and you might loose it anyway. So, prepare yourself and one does that by seeking God first: (Matthew 6: 32 For the pagans pursue all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.…)

God is not against your sexual desires… or any of the good ones, that is. Its ok to question why something is a sin and I encourage you to look deeply into whatever it is - by study, that is- so that you need to understand is fullfilled.

May God bless you and keep you.

Chastity is a difficult virtue to understand in today’s culture. We have contraceptives. Generally people hate their sins after experiencing negative consequences.

Pray the Holy Rosary. Especially meditating on the sorrowful mysteries. Think of the lengths God went through to take our sins away!

You don’t have to be deeply religious to pray the Rosary. Just start.

Go to this website, print it out and fold it so you can carry it with you.

You don’t even need a Rosary! You can use your fingers. God gave you 10 of them after all.

Bishop Sheen (a wonderful man, you should look him up) said this of the Rosary:
If you wish to convert anyone to the fullness of the knowledge of Our Lord and of His Mystical Body, then teach him the Rosary. One of two things will happen. Either he will stop saying the Rosary — or he will get the gift of faith.
You can also find good versions of the Rosary to follow along with on Youtube or the Laudate app on iphone or android.
