Hi, I wish to obtain relics for private veneration. I was wondering, is there any way or process which you go through to obtain holy relics. Thanks to all who respond.

I do not believe this is permitted in a private home.

Peace

You write a letter to the Order of group that safekeeps the relics. If they approve of you, then they send you a relic. You may have to pay for the shipping and handling, also you may want to send a donation to the Order or group.

There is no guarantee that you will get a relic. As a private lay person, you’re chances are very small.

The Shrine of Blessed Seelos , gives out first class relics of Blessed Seelos, for a donation $30.

The Shrine of Blessed Vasyl also gives out relics for a $30 donation.bvmartyrshrine.com/icons.htm
That is ridiculous. Giving them for a USD 30 donation is selling them by another name which is strictly forbidden. To try to hide a sale by saying you can have them for a donation fools nobody. That is selling relics.
Even a 5-year old could see through that!

Can. 1190 §1 It is absolutely wrong to sell sacred relics.

I agree with this.

This type of thing has always struck me as the same sort of shenangigans that jesus condemned the Temple priests for. Things like getting around honoring thy mother and father by dedicating the money to the temple…
I doubt that these people even realize what they are doing…

It is allowed to obtain them via donations. What the difference is I do not know, but it seems the Church is okay with it. Technically all your paying for is the reliquary itself not the relic.
