… I don’t think we can even say for sure that Judas was dissillusioned, or even all that political (as portrayed in Jesus Christ Superstar.) He may have just wanted power and wealth (courtesy of a Powerful Messiah) and was disappointed when he found out Christ would not do that.
That is what disillusioned means (as well as that kind of political - the Powerful Messiah was less courteous than Judas deserved)!
In spite of everything he saw of Jesus, Judas never really understood him, or he would have known that Jesus would have welcomed him back, even after his great sin.
