At this moment in my life right now, I have postponed by religious vocation search in to answer to God’s call to look into helping in the conversion of my family.

**I would like to ask for your suggestion how to help me empower my family.
**

I have:
a. chainsmoker/schizophrenic father
b. depressed and withdrawn addict brother
c. addicted to computer games brothers
d. abandoned family nephew

I am rooting really for the conversion and not just hope. I would like to know if you know of any practices. prayers etc. that are of much help for my family. I am committing now to Sunday masses and every day rosary prayers with them. But I would like to know more of what would help more. thank you!

Keep doing this, name them specifically in your prayers.

This do not do. By living your faith, by example, it will give them something to contrast the life they are living now. YOU will need something to fall back on and help you persevere as you devote yourself to prayer.

I prayed for this. and I believe God wants me to focus right now with my family and personal healing. I have been going through the vocation search in for three years now and doing active works in the Church, leaving behind my family.

It is at this time now that I have been specifically called to do the mission with my family and myself. But I desire to maintain spiritual direction and healing sessions. I was called to be more focused on the domestic church (family). I’m praying over communities and guidance as well to help us.

I will pursue the religious vocation later on. I have told my SD about this and she has my support. Tbh, I was about to go through aspirancy when this inspiration came to me. I figured out I cannot be settled in the religious vocation unless I give justice and service to my family if ever I’ll leave them for good in the religious life.

Anyhow, do you know any prayers, family practices etc to enhance the family Spirit? ****To be honest, I really think the enemy’s really strong at home. I tried to run away from this responsibility in the past years, but Jesus seems eager to help us at this point.

As a young adult just about to leave home, I was 21, I also prayed for the salvation of my family. My parents were lapsed Catholics at the time. As I was praying, Matthew 10:37, came into my head. I did not know what that verse actually said, so I went and opened a pew bible…

Matthew 10

34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and a man’s foes will be those of his own household. 37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38 and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

I believed the Lord wanted me to set my priorities right. I did and still do love Him above even my own life. That was my experience with the dilemma. I hope you are making the right decision postponing the aspirancy.

Daily rosary. But perhaps your family will not convert, but you should keep hope in the Lord and keep trying.

yeah. the reason I was at that time to leave my family for God was this same principle of leaving everything behind for Him. My SD said that Jesus will take care of my family. I was also confident of that. That’s why I dismissed and tried to supress the call to serve my family. I thought it was only a temptation to postpone my vocation. But actually it was not really like that as I learned through a thorough discernment this year.

I believe now that it is really a real call to serve my family for the time being. Since I am really here and sent to my own family and to help myself as well I wanted to do the best out of it. I am actually very serious about this. Although it is quite challenging at the moment because I found it easier to serve others and to do external missions than here at home. The irony.😊

Thank you for your reply!

thank you! Actually I am not satisfied with things right now in my family. I know this is not what God wants. He wants to be closer to us as He always does to all of His children.
I feel so close to God, and my family not…The irony. I feel sad about it. So Im working on it. Please pray for us. 🙂
