I was reading about the miracle of the healing in Denver and Sister Maria Theresia Bonzel who is now scheduled for beatification as a result. (denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_23012962/vatican-declares-colorado-springs-miracle-after-prayers-nun)

They had prayed a novena.

How do you pray for an intention like that? I want to pray the rosary for things but I don’t know how to do it. (I am a new convert).

And does your prayer always have to be in the form of a novena or can it be less rosaries. Can you do the novena all in one day?

Thank you for any help,

Rae

Typically, a Novena is said over the period of 9 consecutive days unless otherwise specified.

When it comes to dedicating a rosary for a special intention, I simply state it at the beginning of my Rosary after saying the creed. Really, there are no rules to do this. What is in your heart is wordlessly conveyed to Christ through Mary so don’t worry too much about semantics. 👍

But if it is helpful to you, I have been offering a daily rosary lately for my family who is in a major transition right now. After saying the creed, I usually say something like “Blessed Mother Mary, my heart longs for peace in my family. Please hear my prayers and pray with me for my family.” And then I proceed to contemplate on the mysteries (and the fruits) of the Rosary. So I just put my petition out there at the beginning.

Other times, if my head and therefore prayers are kind of all over the place, I may offer each decade for a different intention. If I’m doing that, I simply state it after the mystery.

Welcome to the Church! Good for you for having such a devotion. The graces bestowed as a result are so abundant and amazing.
