Peace be all of you!

I am a 35 year old married man and a father to three young daughters (ages 10, 9 and 6). Recently, I have established a common prayer time with my family. Our prayer time normally consist of praying the Holy Rosary and then individual vocal prayer each night.

With the concern of not having our prayers to fall on the routine, I would like to ask if anyone if you can kindly share any links that may give me an idea to on how we can further enrich our prayer time. I would like have my family members to foster a positive attitude towards prayer.

God bless you all!

I’m sorry, I don’t have any links for you, but I do have an idea.

How about getting a prayer book that has a variety of prayers in it and then designating a specific day of the week for each of your daughters to be responsible to choose the prayers for that day. They can have the same day each week, so they always have a week to “prepare” for their prayer day. Maybe the 10 yr old gets Mondays, the 9 yr old gets Wednesdays and the 6 yr old gets Fridays. The 2 older ones, being able to read, would be able to lead the prayer time for their day with the 6 year old getting help from mom or dad to lead her day. This would give the girls more familiarity with new prayers (while they read through the book to choose for their day) and help it to be a more interactive family prayer time. I think you may find the girls (especially at these ages) do really want to contribute and it would certainly lend to a variety of prayers during prayer time. I applaud your foresight to avoid monotony since we all know children’s (and adult’s) minds tend to wander in those curcumstances.

Hope this helps,

@forever47,

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll definitely try this one out. I have a “Handbook of Prayers” that can be used as a starting point of this.

God Bless!
