When you are praying for someone, do you have to be exclusively praying for them.

For example, when I say the rosary at night, I will offer my prayer for many people whom I assume are in purgatory, then for my kids, for my family etc.

How does it work exactly, should I keep a list of prayer intentions and ALL intentions are covered in that one prayer? or do I have to say one Hail Mary for each intention?

What happens if I forget to specifically offer intention to my prayer? do they go to prayer wasteland? Do they go to general intention?

Thank you

God knows the intentions of your heart and so however you pray for others is understood by Him.
You will notice that in the Prayers of the Faithful in Mass, we do pray for general intentions, and also sometimes for particular people.
The general intentions in the Prayers of the Faithful often include many people and groups of people, so this practice of the Church can teach you that you do not have to say lots of specific prayers, unless you choose to any time,
God understands whom you intend to include in your prayers.

God bless!

Pax Christi!

Yes, God knows what is in your heart.

To aid my memory, I put a list on the wall along with some holy cards and images. Usually I dedicate one decade to family, another decade to Holy Souls in Purgatory, another for a friend in prison, etc. I could let the whole Rosary be dedicated to this or that intention, or divide it up bead by bead.

Whatever works best for you.

Keep praying!

God bless.

I pray for everyone in my prayers, but I emphasize those who have asked for my prayers. Why not? If everybody prayed for everyone else, the world would be much better. I feel that I’m in a constant prayer, with God etched in the forefront of my mind.

LOVE! ❤️

Just pray what is in your heart. God knows your intentions. I usually say I’m praying for the intentions of all I know & for those of people throughout the world.

Thank you everyone,

I am trying to teach my kids to reflect on their intention before mass and prayer etc. Then I wondered if I was overstating the prayers (as in volume not power).

Since I am spending a good part of the summer in Fatima, I am asking for prayer intentions at my office…A kind of drop box where one can discretely place a prayer intention…I just wanted to make sure that I would not shortchange anyone!

Thanks again for your responses…I will keep you in my prayers!
