  1. Just joined, never made a thread, and is just hopping around all the political threads.
  2. Listing their religion as Catholic but is very obviously not: being vocally pro-choice, a cheerleader for all things gay, etc.
  3. The absurd scenario troll: typically in family life, posts a scenario they or a friend/relative is supposedly experiencing and the story has a lot of holes/extremely unlikely elements. When other posters kindly ask for clarification on the things that don’t add up, they immediately accuse everyone of calling them a liar and either refuses to answer the questions or the story gets even weirder.

Some people love drama 🙃

I am pretty sure Catholics drink coffee, complain about the coffee at church and the salamanders are Catholic.😉

to frustrate a troll act like Mr. Spock. No emotion. Pure straight logic and rhetoric. For example, a guy called me a, (rhymes with hit) and I said. "I do not see how that addresses the main point that I made. Please explain. Keep going back to the “stay on topic” and do not let up. It frustrates the troll and is a form of charity as it shepherds them into using logic instead of emotion.

I dunno friend. That just seems like another form of feeding the troll, to me.

Kudos to you for trying to be charitable if there’s an occasion where you think they may actually benefit from engagement.

I tend to just check out though, once I realize I’m talking to a troll. Just literally roll my eyes, feel sorry for them that this is what they’re choosing to do, and disappear from the back and forth. They can shout into the void if they want, but I won’t join them there.

And those who think what they are posting is smart but can be debunked by two words “Not True”

understood. sometimes i choose to stand and fight. other times i cut my losses.

You may be partially right, your observation was useful to me, I say it without irony.

Welcome to Catholic Answers Forums!

I’m sorry that you got such a negative impression from this thread. Look around and you will find better threads. Many are about the Catholic faith. We all look forward to your participation.

what was the real purpose of this thread , cheap laughs or educating others ?
Certainly not cheap laughs. It’s about how to navigate the forums to build faith in ourselves and maybe others without getting sucked into pointless arguments.
