How To Remain a Active and Loyal Catholic

I am a former Mormon living in the metro Phoenix area preparing to return to Seattle area as soon as possible due to my work. I have always been a Catholic, fortunately I am grateful for this site and outside resources available for those folks like me who wish to strengthen their faith in the church and remain active.

Whether it is Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses or whatever church trying to convert us will always work to do that, I know this is my home regarding my faith always.

Thanks be to God. I recommend finding a parish in Seattle where there are Bible study groups, adult education classes, book clubs, any and all of those things, to help you in your journey. And there are so many ministries in need of willing people to help. Get connected with people who share your faith. Its an amazing and wonderful gift, isn’t it?

I have plans to volunteer with some friends with programs in Seattle so I concur if one seeks to get involved as best as you able that only benefit the others in general also you will feel good about what you did.

Get involved in ministry whether it be music , catecheesis or any other ministry where you will get to be involved with a group of parishioners.

I must say I am a bit confused though.

In looking at some of the posts you have made on other threads, (as recently as yesterday) where you stated that you were a member of the LDS church.

Could you share with us what it was you found here at CAF that helped you leave mormonism, and return to the church?

I would really like to know what “spoke” to you, as it could help other people struggling with the same issue.

My suggestion for staying an active and loyal Catholic, would be to sever all ties with the mormon church,(except for family, if there are some that are mormon) and submit a letter to your local bishop to have your name removed from their rolls.

It is much easier to stay active when you aren’t straddling a fence and trying to keep everyone else happy.

Looks like they left somewhere between February 9 and today. however I am having a hard time reconciling that with “I’ve always been a Catholic”

I have to agree. Thats why I posed the questions I did.

OP may be referring to the fact that even though he was LDS he always felt Catholic, or was called to be a Catholic, or was in the catholic universal body of Christ, and has recently become a Roman Catholic.

That said, its all in disposition, attend mass, receive the sacraments, immerse yourself with Christ, read scripture etc etc etc, live the faith fully everyday, and when you fall short, go to confession!
