What is the best approach as a Catholic to respond to someone who you used to know a long time ago and they come back into your life and add that they are now homosexual. I know that we are called to love the person but I have found that love can be rejected because your don’t fully accept their new lifestyle. I’ve recently been contacted by someone who was a close friend growing up but they went away and entered a homosexual relationship. After 20 years they contacted me and told me about their new life and emphasized their “marriage” and “spouse”.
How do I let them know that I am happy that they are happy but also my beliefs? Do I just ignore those details? A past attempt with someone else did not go well and I’d like to take a better approach.
