Our family received a letter from a young woman using her first name only and the address of her Kingdom Hall.

I would like to respond but am not sure what to do - should I send a letter, a book, other?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks! 🙂

Scan and post the letter she sent you…
…That way the members can ponder the best way to answer it in a Christian way.
…That she wrote you a letter is a good thing - treat it as a spring board for sharing the true Faith.

Do not respond.

They believe that anyone outside of their 7-million sect called “Watchtower Society” - and especially the members of the Catholic Church - worship Satan. Therefore anything you write, be it the most wonderful truth, will immediately be discarded as false and evil simply because it came from you.

There can be no dialogue with this cult, whose doctrine - furthermore - is not Christian, except in appearance.

I remember when I was alone at home eating cereal after coming back from I believe 9th grade in high school I used to have the Witnesses come to my door and give me pamphlets and talk to me about what I believed in. I just remember smiling and telling them God bless you. Then I went back to eating cereal and never really thought about what they said afterwards. If you can post the contents of the letter, we can take their points and give them refutations. Always respond back with love, but be steadfast in your faith and ask the Holy Spirit to help you respond to them.

I would respond! I would kindly say that I would like to bless her in “The Name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit”. She won’t bother you again.

I would respond in kind Lax. Say nothing of religion to see what they might write back.

Thanks for all the (name removed by moderator)ut so far.

The letter she sent basically invited us to the Kingdom Hall and to contact her if we had any questions.

I would respond by inviting her to come and visit because you would like to share your faith with her. 😉

Indeed.

There is no need to respond to her letter. She will likely get the message you’re sending (you’re not Jehovah’s Witness and do not intend to become one) if she does not hear back from you.

Rev. Fernando raised someone from the dead in a Canadian Hospital. He has prayed over 5 million Catholics since then, in over 20 countries.

I personally know him; I have seen peoples: eyes, hearding, legs physically restore. What’s really interesting is the fact several people have claimed to have been cleansed of cancer, after he prayed over them.

Get this: I saw to women have apparitions, after he prayed over them at a healing Mass in Washington State; one said she saw an angel, the other said she saw Christ. They were on the floor; I thought they were having convolutions at first, but it wasn’t the case.

He usually tours the USA annually:

P.S. Rev. Fernando will probably become a saint (my opinion).

God bless, Aaron

Typically a JW sends a letter because you live in area that is difficult to access (gated community, apartment building with security door, remote location etc.) OR the young woman has physical limitations that prevent her from going “door to door.”

I would thank her for her kindness in sending it, and tell her a little about what your faith means to you, because let’s face it - she’s a captive audience and how often do you actually get to share your faith with a total stranger whom you know isn’t a Christian? Tell her you have no interest in the Jehovah’s Witness faith, but if she’d like to discuss YOUR faith, she’s welcome to contact you again. Then tell her you’ll pray for her, and do it.

Will she write back? Probably not - but you never know.

I am a former JW.

We need to respond, but with confidence in our faith and to witness! I wish I had all the early church quotes that I have now before, and just even sharing those quotes contradicts what they later believed 1800 years later. The real witnesses of Christ came 1800-2000 years before them, so logic says to listen to the apostles and successors for the truth.

You could do as I have in the past. I mailed Kingdom Hall tracts about Catholicism. I think I even sent a DVD there once. I found another letter asking me to stop mailing them stuff. I responded back with…“How is it fair for your Kingdom Hall to mail me something and I cannot turn around and offer that same blessing to you??”

I never heard back from them again.

yellowbird -

You are correct - we live in a neighborhood that does not allow solicitors.

This sounds great. Any ideas what I should include in my correspondence?

thanks!
