You are correct - we live in a neighborhood that does not allow solicitors.

This sounds great. Any ideas what I should include in my correspondence?

thanks!
If it were me, I would simply give a few sentences about how I love my Church and it helps me draw closer to Jesus Christ whom I love very much. I would say how much I look foward to mass because it’s there that I receive Jesus in the Eucharist. I would talk about how my Church was the original Church that Jesus Christ established when He said upon this rock I build my Church. And finally, I would tell her that I have peace knowing that I am a child of God and He loves me, and my hope is spending eternity with Him.

^ All of that will sound so odd to the JW - but you never know what sort of seeds you’re planting. When I was a JW, trying to prove me wrong with bible verses never worked. I was trained to know exactly how to respond. But when someone shared their faith, and what it meant to them - and they sounded confident - THAT was hard for me to argue. It wouldn’t make sense to me because as JWs - we believed we were Jehoavh God’s people. His only people. I was always dumbfounded by a non-JWs relationship with Jesus. It made me pause and think… what’s up with that?

Our family received a letter from a young woman using her first name only and the address of her Kingdom Hall.

I would like to respond but am not sure what to do - should I send a letter, a book, other?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks! 🙂
Do not bother to respond.

I agree with most of the posters here in that if she took the time and trouble to send you a real letter not just a pre printed promo piece, you should consider writing back to her. The only thing different I would add would be to use some of that paper to talk about other things too. Tell her why you are happy (why you have the joy in your heart) what things you do in your everyday life that cause you to be happy. I am going to guess that her life is not that happy if she has to write to people in order to be in good standing with her faith community. Make her life a little more pleasant by treating her like a person, not a bottom line marketing tool- and you will give her a gift that no one else is giving her right now.
I hate reading about these types of things. I am so glad Catholics do not force their members to do such things but advocate a well lived life as evangelism instead. That is the best way to do it. I have respect for a person who can show me why they are happy, by living it in their lives.

I think it is their newest gimmick as I received a letter also, just as you described. A friend also received one too.

I just threw it away. I really don’t answer the door to them as from my understanding they get points for each house they visit and I think more points if one is rude to them.

Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Respond by witnessing what your faith means to you. Give a testimony. Then tell her that God desires all to be saved in heaven with him, not just 144,000. Let her know that the New World Translation inaccurately translates 1 Timothy 2:4 as well as many other verses.

NWT
4 whose will is that **all sorts of men **should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.

KJV
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Mistranslations includes John 1

NWT

1In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.

KJV

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Invite her to write you back. Plants seeds and let the Holy Spirit work…

Hi, StrawberryJam, 👋

It’s been so long since we’ve been on a thread together.

I love your post. 🙂

Don’t be to quick say you can’t talk to Jehovah’s Witness while they try very hard to keep a tight rein on there people. There are those like my self who will listen. I was once a witness raised in their faith but through the people like a high school friend talk ed to me while took years I was able see through the false teachings. Have now been a catholic for 23 yrs now So try this person need to hear a different voice.
