How to speak of Mary?

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As I continue to prepare for my presentation tonight on Mary our Mother, I realize how very dependent I am on God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and on Mary’s intercession. Jesus said that without Him, we can do nothing (John 15). Jesus, however in that same Last Supper Discourse assures us of the solution: “Remain in Me”. Surely I have Mary as my Mother and Model to show me how she remained in Jesus. I pray for His Grace to remain in Him. The difficulty for me is to speak of all Mary is, while at the same time trying to put out of my mind all that I am not!!

Please pray for me and for all those who will come to the meeting tonight. I’m staying close to both the Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church in what I hope to say about Mary and how she LIVED the words of the Our Father – the perfect prayer Jesus taught us. This paragraph from the Catechism was especially helpful:

2764 - The Sermon on the Mount is teaching for life, the Our Father is a prayer; but in both the one and the other the Spirit of the Lord gives new form to our desires, those inner movements that animate our lives. Jesus teaches us this new life by his words; he teaches us to ask for it by our prayer. The rightness of our life in him will depend on the rightness of our prayer. (underlining is mine)

God willing, I’ll post more tomorrow, but thank you in advance for any prayer you offer for me and for those who come to hear this presentation tonight. May we glorify God and honor His Gift of Mary tonight and forever.

How lovely! My husband and I gave a Day of Recollection to the Lay Carmelites in SC awhile ago on “The Interior Liturgy of the Our Father and the Interior Castle of St. Teresa of Avila”.

My husband’s second book *The Interior Liturgy of the Our Father * was inspired by St. Teresa of Avila’s Interior Castle . He wrote it almost as a sequel to his first book, “The Ordinary Path to Holiness”. Both Thomas and I have been greatly blessed by the writings of St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Therese of Lisieux and St. Edith Stein. Among my favorite poems are “The Wayfaring Virgin” by St. John of the Cross:

Can you please give me that website again, as I did not find it in my favorites even though I had put it there. I usually clean out the excess sites in my favorites every few weeks, and I must have clicked it away not remembering what it was.
