How to start a traditionalist religious order?

**Depends on what you mean by “traditional”.

The Romanian-Byzantine and Ukrainian-Byzantine monks in California (to name just one state) are very traditional, with their chapel filled with icons.

Well, I live in the UK and Ireland. If you want tradition here, try a major city. Sundays only, often enough. Not sure where the nearest Eastern Catholic church might be. I’m a Roman Catholic. I think there’s (always) a gap in the market for a rigourous Roman Catholic institution of any stripe.

One problem is that the current generation have zero idea of what tradition means or implies.

For example. Some of my family help out in the local N.O. church in Ireland. They helped with the choir over Christmas. Their efforts were applauded (literally) by the congregation after Mass. I told them we don’t applaud at Mass. “Noooooo!” was the response. “We want applause!” A small example of a much bigger problem. When our President happily ‘takes communion’ at a Protestant service, you know the barricades need mendin’.

I don’t think Roman Catholic Bishops truly realise the wasteland that has developed post Vatican II.
