Hello,
I am a convert & was received in 2006. I have been interested in Tradition Catholicism but I have no idea what exactly it all entails or how to begin! I read somewhere that we are not supposed to hold our hands up during the Our Father (I never was comfortable with that but every church but 1 I have attended did it) so I stopped doing it. My husband & kids still do because “everybody else is” even though I point out ones that arent sometimes. My husband is in the military overseas so we are limited in our church locations. I havent had much luck in finding info on what exactly I should or should be doing at Mass, at home etc.
Another question, veiling. Yes, no, when, what color is appropriate, would some other headwear suffice?
Thank you for any help or point in the right direction.

The tradition is in the mind and heart not primarily in the words and gestures.

My advise is, that unless you find Traditional Latin Mass community, do not single yourself out. Holding hands for the Lord’s Prayer, especially with you family is not sinful.

You may try to receive the communion to your tongue (keep your hands folded and stick your tongue) and most importantly make frequent confession if possible. Avoid any group which rejects the pope or the hierarchy.

If you know the priest you may ask him to consider to celebrate the Mass in Latin, or even according to the 1962 rites, but Jesus Christ is the same, regardless of the tongue or words, and He is the important one, not the language or rites.

Re holding hands at the Our Father. I don’t think there is any binding rule for or against at this time. Thus one is free to do whichever one wishes. If you don’t want to hold hands, and don’t want to make an issue of it, I suggest holding your handkerchief in your hand. [If necessary, cough into it a couple of times. ;)]

We hold hands with family as well, but at my Catholic Church, we view our fellow parishoners as family within the Catholic Faith.
