I been addicted to pornography a while ago and continued stumbled into it on google, whenever I typed certain words or phrases, however innocent they may seem, these sites, images, and videos kept appearing on google. Last month I cleared my browsing data however a day ago I typed a certain phrase that was associated with porn I was enslaved to and images popped up right away on google. Today I googled searched the seemingly innocent words and phrases and sure enough those loathsome images returned in some cases worse than before. I really hate this addiction! What do I have to do to stop these sites from hounding me?

Well it depends on what browser and internet search engine you use. Internet browsers like Chrome and Mozilla have addons (e.g. Anti-Porn Pro) you can install that help block access to porn sites and even hides the search results. Search engines such as Google can even allow you to set safe settings so that you don’t come across such material.

God bless!

Turn on Google safe search. It blocks most inappropriate content in image searches, although the occasional bad image will get through. Then clear your cache & cookies and start using some sort of parental control software.

If you’re getting emails from them, opting out may stop the emails but you’ll likely have to go to their website to do so, which will expose you to whatever is on their site. Unfortunately, some of those sites use the opt-out feature as a way to validate that they’re hitting a real email address so anyone who opts out finds that their email address has been sold to all manner of sites and the amount of spam they receive increases exponentially. If you don’t mind having those emails filly our junk folder (if you’re using Outlook or something similar), just hit ignore on them. You can also try going to your ISP’s webmail page and blocking them there if that’s an option. Then you’ll never receive them in Outlook or whatever.

Also, if you’ve been on porn sites, I would highly recommend downloading and running some anti-malware program like Malwarebytes (and get the latest updates for it), if u haven’t already, since there’s probably also some malware on your PC that’s contributing to your problem.

Try opening your task manager to see if there are any strange processes running. I’ve had problems with pop-up advertisements in the past and handled them via the task manager.

Be careful which processes you decide to end as you might screw up your computer. :manvspc:

May I commend you for turning your life around like this and trying SO very hard to flee temptation. It´s not an easy thing to free oneself from any addiction.

May God bless you! 👍

Unfortunately, closing programs thru the task manager generally doesn’t get to the root of the problem, though, particularly if u are dealing with adware, since they’ll come back over and over again. :hypno:
A good anti-virus/adware program, I think, would be your best shot to permanently get rid of constant pop-up ads, since it can get rid of the software that’s causing the ads to pop up in the 1st place.

www1.k9webprotection.com/

It’s a free filter. Just give the code to someone you trust and no matter what you do you can’t search for or go to porn sites.
One question, about this software will it protect my computer alone? or will it regulate the entire house’s internet access? If it controls the entire house’s internet access might run into deep problems with my dysfunctional family:

I don’t know if my other family members view internet porn but have good reason to suspect my brother entertains himself with it, and my mother won’t tolerate anyone tampering with the internet without her permission.

You install it on each computer that you wish to protect, and it protects that computer alone.

To regulate the entire house’s internet access would require specific information about the household router hardware and its administrative username and password, so I don’t think it’s possible to inadvertently tamper with the household internet service.

If you are logged in to a Google account, clear your Google search history, which is saved independently of the.browser you’re using.

Also if you find Google too lax on its safe-browsing mode, you might want to try startpage.com since what it does is fetch the results from Google, and as I have noted while using it, it also removes several adult related results.

Keep in mind with Google that they tend to put you in a Search Bubble, so often times it will bring up results related to your past searches. You cannot control this by deleting your history since Google has other means of tracking what you search.

I did a little bit more research on this, and I found this on Google’s Official Blog:

“This addition enables us to customize search results for you based upon 180 days of search activity linked to an anonymous cookie in your browser. It’s completely separate from your Google Account and Web History (which are only available to signed-in users). You’ll know when we customize results because a “View customizations” link will appear on the top right of the search results page. Clicking the link will let you see how we’ve customized your results and also let you turn off this type of customization.”

In the latest version of Firefox, though, it seems there’s no “View Customizations” link. Instead, there are 3 buttons there to turn on/off or adjust the personalized/private searches.

In the aforementioned link, too, there’s another helpful link there to turn off personalization. OP, u might want to consider turning this off, or customizing it, etc.

If you have personalized searches enabled on Google then you’ll have to go into Google search history and delete all of your search history. There may be other problems as well such as malware. Here are instructions on how to delete search history that Google saves.

What web browser are you using?

Regardless of which, do a clean install.

If you do have unwanted processes running, you may have to delete them from your registry as well. CAUTION: Do not try this unless you are a high-end Windows expert; you could really mess up your operating system if you don’t know what you are doing. You may want to have a knowledgeable friend do it for you.

Open your Registry Editor and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete the key that starts the process.

Do the same thing with:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
