So i regularly see a woman who has taken my eye (Inna chaste way) at Church. I do not see wedding rings and she attends Church alone. Sometimes I find myself sitting near her and other times not. Usually when Mass ends I stay for prayers of thanks giving whereas most people just leave.

She sometimes does, or other times she is finished praying before me and leaves, or vice versa. I never get chance to speak to her or get to know her better, and so don’t like talking in Church anyway preferring to keep silent until outside.

My question is could anyone suggest a good way of firstly getting a moment to speak to her and an idea of what to say? I have only relatively recently been a Revert to faith and never dated as a Catholic before, the things I would say previously to a woman made meeting women easier but as a Catholic it all seems much more difficult to not say the wrong thing.

I also wish to talk to her and all women with the respect of a Sister but not come across as bland and uninteresting. I find her attractive, interested in her and don’t want to fall into polite car park man “zone” who passed pleasantries but is instantly forgettable.

Any advice most appreciated, I’m not a young person btw
God bless

Perhaps when the virus is over, you could sit near enough that you could shake hands and flash her a smile? In our church, that is how I have gotten to know some people. We all tend to sit in the same area and are familiar with each other. Sometimes we see each other at the market and recognize each other and say hello. Does your church schedule coffee and donuts afterward on a regular basis? If you sit near her, you could say hello after mass, make small talk and ask her if she is heading over for coffee. If she says no, ask her if she would like to join you.

Hello won’t make him unforgettable as he wishes to be. He needs more than hello to speak with her.

Go up to her after Mass, and introduce yourself. That’s what I did.

I told you about the one woman that I was interested in, right? That I took forever to talk to? What I did, is that I said “Excuse Me Miss, I like your hair”, and I’ve been talking to her after Mass ever since then. And I really do like her hair.

I can only answer as if I was a single woman noticing a single man that I wanted to get to know…btw, I’m not shy.😂

Hello! I’ve noticed you at mass and I wonder if you are single?

No answer…oh, gosh darn it…I was hoping you were (insert big smile)…well, nice meeting you.
Yes answer…oh, good! Would you mind if I invited you to coffee? (Insert big smile)

Either way, you will be remembered and established if she’s available or not without being creepy about it! Just because she comes to mass alone doesn’t mean she’s single. Unless, you already know this?

It’s tricky. Saying this during Mass (obviously) or even in the sanctuary is inappropriate; it just feels invasive. Waiting for her after Mass in the narthex is awkward. In the parking lot is just creepy. You might hope there is some parish or local Catholic event she’ll be at and then you can say, “Oh, hi, I saw you at Mass etc.” and that feels the most natural, but depends on serendipity.

Well, not during Mass but if you could sit near her and after Mass is over, quietly ask on the way out? Definitely don’t shout it across the pews!

I don’t see any problem just waiting outside. Say “Hello, I’m (your name). If she smiles and introduces herself, just ask her if she’d like to have coffee sometime. After the virus mess of course.

Step 1: Wait until Good Friday.
Step 2: Approach her after mass and ask her if you can buy her a modest meal that is slightly bigger than the two smaller meals she had earlier in the day.
Step 3: Take her out for said meal.

If she’s at all serious about her faith, you would at least get a chuckle from her…

Here’s a visual of the conversation to boost your confidence:

Would probably help if you looked like this guy when you’re delivering it😛

It would. If only I looked like The Goose…all my cheesy pickup line from my single days would have worked!

Compliment her veil lol

Or pick any verse from the Song of Solomon and recite it to her. Example:

"Your hair is like a flock of goats

streaming down Mount Gilead.

Your teeth are like a flock of ewes to be shorn,

that come up from the washing,

All of them big with twins,

none of them barren."

No wedding or engagement rings at least and she has been attending alot longer than 6 months so if she isn’t, she isn’t likely to marry him anytime soon. That will do lol

Sadly I think good Friday mass is off the cards but if i still haven’t spoke to her by next year I might just try it then 🙂

Oh please! I hope that you don’t wait that long, lol!

When everything returns to normal, you can say something like, “hello, so nice to finally see you again! My name is…”
