How to use sacramentals?

i have this doubt, how do we properly use sacramentals?

I’ve heard that they are reminders, but then why bless them?

what does the blessing do? I’ve heard it’s a prayer the Church does, so when you use the medal what you do is being willing to receive the blessing the Church is asking for you, same with sprinlkilng holy water. but it means that the medal can be said to be a praer from the Church and not just a reminder, so what is the proper approach of it?
 
The sacraments impart Grace directly, providing we are well disposed.

The sacramentals dispose us to receive Grace.

They are not magical or good luck charms, yet they do have a supernatural element about them, i think, properly understood.

They are undervalued and greatly underutilized in today’s Catholic culture! They indeed can be helpful in strengthening our union with Christ and fighting our daily spiritual battles.
