I once attended a seminar on the deliverance ministry conducted by the author and psychiatrist Kenneth McCall.
During the questions and answers three rather excitable women told Dr. McCall that there was a witches coven meeting in their town and they wondered how to get rid of it.
Dr. McCall was a very softly spoken man with a deep spirituality. He said quietly, “In my experience, in most cases, all that is necessary to rid a place of evil is for a small group of committed Christians to gather and pray silently together and then repeat the Lord’s Prayer together concentrating on the phrase, “Deliver Us From Evil.” He smile, “That usually works. Any further questions?”

The article was excellent and a “keeper article” worth printing and keeping for future reference or sharing with others.

Thanks for the link,

Mary.

I just mutter it all the time. And if I catch myself not muttering it, I re-start. Lets me off the hook from more complex observances.

I certainly don’t appreciate calling prayer a weapon. :(:nope:
Almost the only thing I remember from catechism prior to confirmation at the age of 9 was that I was going to be made a “soldier of Christ”.

I didn’t think of that as violent. In those days, all the schools (and I went to completely secular ones) taught layers of language from the earliest age. So did my parents. Were you brought up by literalists?

Every prayer is a weapon against satan.
The Apostles even wrote this, read St Paul’s Ephesians letter.

Exorcism and deliverance prayers are spiritual warfare against satan.

A load of the saints referred to the rosary as a weapon, such as St Padre Pio, St Louis De Montfort, and I seem to recall Our Lady or one of the Fatima children calling the rosary a great weapon against sin.

Prayer is a huge weapon against the forces of evil. I often repeat, as both a weapon and a plea, the part of the Lord’s prayer which says, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done.”

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
(Ephesians 6:12).

This life is a constant struggle between invisible forces of good and evil, and through prayer, we can aid the angels in their battle against evil.

Um, ok

St John Paul II:

Jesus himself has shown us by his own example that prayer and fasting are the first and most effective weapons against the forces of evil.

St Pio:

Prayer is the best weapon we have. It is the key that opens the heart of God.
