As Robert pointed out, it was NOT a mantilla, it was a HAT, HAT, HAT.:banghead: This article might have better value than most, but it still TO ME makes a romantic notion out of a discipline. Here’s an article I found that I thought was quite informative…
Why Wear the Veil?..
That being said, if you try either a clear comb sewn into the underside (try Hobby Lobby in the bridal department), the matching bobby pins in a X, or a clear plastic headband with invisible stitches in the same color as the lace (also in the bridal department of Hobby Lobby), it shouldn’t slip.
There is also something called the hat pin. Put the mantilla on your head. While looking in the mirror, weave the pin (it’s huge, so be careful) through the hair and mantilla, as if you were pinning something a couple times before sewing it. Aim forthe back or crown of your head.
Just don’t do what they did to little girls to hold hats on heads: Nasty elastic under the chin (itchy), or the plastic headband combined with rivets (painful at the temples).
