How was your Easter Vigil?

And a bit disappointing. We had the new fire and the Paschal Candle outside, but the procession was dark, only spread the flame after we got inside. Safer, yes. But kinda lame.

My Fiance was baptized, my parents came and really enjoyed the evening and my baby girl (she is only 10 days old now) was an angel for the entire 2.5 hours!

She slept on my chest and barely made a peep! She did the same thing for Holy Thursday during Mass. I think she loves Mass. She was screaming before we got to Church but once we got inside and our guest priest started singing a beautiful Latin chant, she passed out and was out the whole time!

Anyway, Mass itself was beautiful and I’m really excited my Fiance was finally accepted into the Church after thinking about it for years. He’s really happy! I’ve got another month to wait before I’m confirmed.
 
long…but thats the standard. Whether it took any extra time because of the new translation, I couldn’t really tell.

I think my favorite part is when the lights are finally turned on. In my church, this also means all the Easter decorations are unfurled. Its quite impressive to see all the banners come out of nowhere.

The baptisms are always quite the event as well. The entire church sings “up from the waters” (listen here: resources.giamusic.com/mp3s/4845.mp3)…which is far more impressive with out music director than it is in that particular recording.

For the first time in our church, we also used a thurible for the incense. We used to use clay jars that were carried around.

the way it is written in the missal is that once the Pascal Candle gets to the middle of the church then the light spreads throughout the church. Your church did as it was suppose to It looks like.
 
My first Easter Vigil was beautiful.😊

I loved the formality and solemnity of it. The Exultet was beautiful. The readings were perfect. I never heard the Litany of Saints sung before but it was awesome.People genuinely seemed happy for us as we walked through the Church and used our baptismal candles to light the candles of the people in the congregation.Receiving our Lord was the pinnacle of the night. I’m just so happy. 😃
 
Absolutly beautiful! Here in my home town they don´t baptize on the Vigil, but it was still very emotional! The Easter Fire, the readings, the candles in the dark temple, the bells ringing at the Glory… just felt the Holy Spirit so present! God permitted me to be accompanied by one of my daughters so that was specially meaningfull… So lucky to feel the that much love from our Father! 🙂
 
Very disappointing. I have no idea why The Exsultet was said instead of being sung as it is one of the most beautiful and stirring chants: this set the whole evening off to a bad start. There were a mixture of responsorial psalms and hymns though hardly anyone participated. And those being baptised did not look at all joyous or happy.
 
Mine was good as usual. I always love the Vigil, primarily the service of light. We flip-flopped the Old Testament readings and the Service of Light in order to let the sun set a bit more (Mass was at 7). I actually almost like that way better than how you are suppose to do it. It almost feels like, first we were in darkness in the time before Christ (though God was with us as we hear in the readings), then he came, died, and rose, and now light, Glorias, Alleluias, etc.

No baptisms or anything at our service. I don’t know what kinds of parishes others go to, but in the inner city we occasionally have a baptisim on Holy Saturday, and rarely have anyone joining the faith. Sad to see, but a good reminder that not every corner of the US is booming with 30 new Catholics every Holy Saturday.
 
This was my first Easter Vigil. I didn’t know what to expect so I was a bit confused. I was not in my home parish since I was visiting relatives (not Catholic) and must have picked a rather “contemporary” service which disappointed me some as I am in a very different parish worship style. They used a contemporary songs with a choir, band and when asked to sing along the lights were out and no one joined in. (either no one ever sings or perhaps they too couldn’t read the words in the dark) Lots of clapping for music, people leading…? Very informal and so I was in part disappointed, but realize it might just be the parish I was visiting. I still was blessed in many ways as God is able to use all in spite of our “preferences” 🙂

My parish had happy clappy songs. 😦 Psalms were sung by a cat’s chorus. On a positive note, we had all the readings, and had 10 baptisms. 👍
 
I thank God for those who attended the Easter Vigil and found it of spiritual benefit .

But my preference was for a “quiet” early Sunday morning Mass .
 
My husband and I were received into the Church together at the Easter Vigil, with friends as our sponsors. I enjoyed it all—the lighting of the candles, the readings, the psalms and hymns—but most of all finally being able to participate fully in the service!

Other than what transpired in my personal life, mine was great!
 
Ours was great, we have a shortage of Priests in my City so we had 3 Church communities come together in a High School Gym, it was very moving to have so many people celebrate the Vigil together.
 
It was beautiful, as always.

25 people fully initiated into the Church.
 
Mine was great. We had one adult convert and two (counting the adult) confirmations.
