So, I guess it must be the use of a place as much as the place itself. This has always made me wonder. What if a former church site was not deconsecrated. Would we have a a holy parking lot? How far does the consecration go by the way? Is it the entire church property? If it’s a rural church with a septic tank do we literally have…well, you can figure it out. Now, I say this not from disrespect but with the hope it makes one stop and ponder the issue a bit.

Indeed it does. Scriptures from the New Covenant do not have "sacred sites’ such as “temples” and “consecrated” ground…“The Earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof”…“He does not dwell in temples made with hands”…there is a Holy Temple…there is a Holy Church…but it is not made with hands…it is not made with brick,wood and mortar’…it is Built by God’s Own Hands and washed Clean in His Spirit.

I wouldn’t think twice about it. How would you feel if the local Catholic Church burned and a mosque, temple, or other Christian church in the area said you were more than welcome to use their building to conduct mass until your church was rebuilt or repaired. I think such cooperation makes God very pleased.

I think it does depend on if there is an emergency situation as you describe. Also, I think it matters if they want to make it their permanent place of worship or just a temporary place to meet. However, I myself would have a problem with having wiccans or atheists meeting there, but that may just be me
