what things do u have on it like flowers and statues and thinks like that

Our home altar is to the Sacred Heart of Jesus - a little different, but similar.

We bought a “console” or sofa table and put in the area between our living room and dining room. We eat in the dining room everyday, btw. Also this area is directly visble from the front door when entering.

Our table has a faux marble top with brass inlay in a lovely pattern.

I had planned on putting altar cloths in the seasonal colors, but have not done it just yet. Perhaps for Lent and when drape the image for Good Friday.

We have a vase of flowers – we only work hard to have fresh flowers in June – where your choice would be May. We do keep a votive candle on the table. (Kroger’s makes this much easier for us.) We keep it lit all the month of June – usually one candle per week. Smetimes when life is difficult, we light the candle. Sometimes, just to rtemind us to venerate the image of the Sacred Heart we light it – and just because the Holy Spirit inspired us to light it.

We keep a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the altar at all times. There is a Rosary most of the time and a Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows of Mary for Lent. We keep a prayer of consecration on the altar, too.

Mostly we try to keep the altar Holy and uncluttered. nothing else it to be laid on it unless my husband I agree with the change.

Near dates of signifigance for deceased loved ones, we may place their picture or an of remembrance of them on the altar. For our deceased daughter, a pink Fenton glass butterfly is placed on the altar. She had a thing for butterflies and we find that incredibly reassuring.

Hope that helps. I don’t have photo or the knowledge to get one on this site.
