Hello everyone,
a question that is not meant to be taken too seriously, when you appear before Our Lord, how do you think you will address Him?. “Hi Lord”, "pleased to meet you ", or will words fail you?, knowing me I will make a complete mess of it. Do you think we will automatically say the appropriate respectful words?. Thanks in advance of any replies,
God Bless,
Mick.:)👍

I would probably wait until I was spoken to. “Lord” would probably be my choice. Judging from John getting confused who to bow to in Revelation, I’d want to make sure I knew who I was addressing.

I’ll probably be thinking, “Oh man, I really wish I’d been more attentive at adoration.”

Not the best thought in the world, but I’m realistic 🙂

Uhm, “eep” most probably :blushing:

OR maybe “Oh my GOD!!!”

Hahaha, but seriously, it may just be how St Thomas said it: “My Lord and my God!”

if if i was to meet him right now i would say, you said you make all things new, and you did change me for a while, but i have gone back to my old bad ways, i was just scared sh!tless of you that is why i turned away from sin, but living in this world why cant i stop the things i do, the sinning? why am i still the same person i was at 17 that i am at 25, in some ways ? not everyway. i was much too cold hearted of a person then.

but on judgemet day or whatever. i would just say i know ive sinned and broken your heart please forgive me, that is if i mean IN PERSON. face to face. but i talk to him everyday and he and i know i that he wants to save me from hell. and take me to heaven. i did have a good dream last night after i prayed bout what happened. i take that as a sign to respect women they’re so precious. i guess he was trying to tell me in my dream.

“Yo J-C!”

In all seriousness, I’d probably just be dumbfounded. Thinking, even if I am unable to speak, the words ‘Lord, I am not worthy, but only say the word …’

I would adress Him like the Apostle Thomas did:

“Ὁ κύριός μου καὶ ὁ θεός μου”

🙂

Hmm, you sure Thomas spoke in Greek? “Dominus meus et Deus meus” has more of a ring to it somehow.

He probably spoke Aramaic 😛

Most people at the time of Christ in Israel spoke Greek as a second language, just as people all over the world today speak English as a second language (albeit with varying degrees of success 😃 ). Greek was the Lingua Franca of the day.

We can be sure of one thing: Thomas did not utter those words in Latin…not that it really matters, though 😉

Hi Lutheran,

Most people at the time of Christ in Israel spoke Greek as a second language

That is a hazardous statement. (Got any documentation?)

It’s a fact that Greek was the lingua franca pretty much around the Mediterranean. But it is far from obvious that most spoke it, just as it is far from obvious that most people speak English today. (You should get out more! :p) It is however thought by many othat Greek was quite common in Galilee. Jesus and the apostles would probably have had at least a minimum knowledge of it. Pilate and Jesus may have conversed in it contrary to what Mel Gibson thinks. (He has a thing about Latin).

I never said he did speak them in Latin, I just said the Latin has more of a ring to it 🤷
