How would you approach a Unitarian?

I recently made a friend who is a unitarian. This person believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the earth, but NOT God.

I have stated that one who does not believe in the Holy Trinity and that Christ Was and Is God, cannot be called a Christian because the Trinity is central to true Christian belief. I also provided them with a list of Scripture passages that support the claim that Jesus Christ is Divine (I followed a list provided by a priest on EWTN). They then referred me to a list of unitarian sites and articles and said they think we should just agree to disagree and drop the subject. Should I still try to evangelize or should I just allow them to continue following the heresy of unitarianism when I am their friend? What would you do?

My mother is a Unitarian and I pray a lot. She is able to “understand” much of what I say, although it’s difficult to tell if she really understands or wants to show understanding (relativism is king to her).
If this person will read them (unfortunately, my mother won’t - too heavy and maybe threatening) I would suggest they read a one-volume book on the Church Fathers, then some of Neuman’s works (to show intellectual thought after the “Enlightment”.

What would you do?

In the past I just let the person know how foolish I felt their position to be… (after prayer and offering the apologetical material you provided…) I just told her that it didn’t make much sense to listen to the works of an obvious madman: I mean wow… he thought he could cure people, forgive sin, etc etc… why in the world would Unitarians believe a word he said?

It didn’t work… … but it really got her to think for a bit… the rest is up to the Holy Spirit.

Very good point which is one that I initially proposed to her. Her response: “Yes, but I am still NOT my father.”

I will just respond to that one again by telling her that if she admits her father’s and mother’s HUMAN Nature is passed on to her, how can she deny that God the Father’s DIVINE Nature is passed on to His Son, Who she acknowledges Christ to be…I hope she can see that reason! Yesterday, I prayed one of my rosaries for her and her husband and their conversion. I really like her as a person and want her to come Home.
