Told by whom?

If my priest told me, I’d obey. I would not take my rosary to Mass. I would take it ‘before’ Mass and ‘after Mass’ and pray it them. I would be very careful not to pray it during Mass since Father requested it, as a courtesy to Father, but certainly I would pray before and/or afterward.
 
Your poll was not very clear. If you are asking whether or not to take my rosary to CHURCH, I would react, for many pray the rosary before mass.

If you are asking whether to leave the rosary when Mass is being celebrated, I would comply willingly, since the rosary is not the prayer we should be offering at that time, but entering fully and consciously in the liturgical action.

You will not be getting an accurate poll response since your phrasing needs to be changed as to what you really would like to know.

Joey, you really need to tell us ‘by whom’–and ‘for what reason’ as well. It makes a huge difference. If your priest is asking because people are jangling their rosaries during his homily, it is more understandable (not that I’m saying it is right) than if this order came exactly as stated, “no more rosaries to Mass” with no explanation, no inciting events, etc.
 
Does it matter whom “Told”?

Or are the Protestants right? We have as much attachment to the Rosary as they do to the Bible?

In THIS case–if you are assuming that as an arbitrary thing, Protestants are told to leave their Bibles, and Catholics their rosaries, at home. . .

Then the Protestants would be more upset. Protestants use their Bibles during service. However, most places have ‘pew Bibles’ so that wouldn’t affect them. If you’re saying that suddenly the only Bible in the place would be the Pastor’s. . .well, that really isn’t any different from a lot of Catholics who have no missals in church, and can only ‘hear’ (and not follow along on a page) the word of God. Apparently, that last is what we are supposed to be doing anyway according to the GIRM (although those of us with less than stellar hearing, or with less than gifted readers, might have more difficulty in that situation). Still, the Protestants seem to be more community oriented as well as being more “me-and-Jesus” (not that this is a bad thing) and would probably dislike not having their “right” to have ‘their’ Bible with them. Although some may not have any problem as they know their Bibles well, or don’t read well and always ‘listened’ more than read anyway.

The rosary, OTOH, is not something which most of us pray during Mass anyway. Furthermore, one does not ‘need’ a rosary to pray the prayers–in a pinch, fingers can ‘keep count’. So denying a rosary at Mass would cause very little upset. Those who want to pray a rosary will do so whether they have the beads in hand or not.

That is what I thought as well
 
I don’t suppose it’s possible to add “other” to the poll choices, is it? Because I cannot really go with ANY of the current choices. It all depends on whether this is a priest or a bishop speaking, in matters of faith and morals. If this is Father X’s New Age decision because he personally finds rosaries too ‘trad’, then I would certainly speak to him in protest and probably to the bishop as well. But if this is Bishop Y’s decision for the parish in order to bring the liturgy into conformity, because Father A had been inserting the rosary into the consecration, or because the people were somehow so confused that there needed to be an intensive education and so anything ‘extra’ that had been added to the Mass, even a “good” thing like the rosary which had been used improperly, needed to be ‘removed’ UNTIL the liturgy was in conformity and the people properly catechisized–then it’s a whole different story.

Since we Catholics believe that the Mass is the most powerful prayer offering on earth why would we need to say the Rosary during it.
Saying the Rosary before of after Mass is fine for me, maybe not you or anybody else, but were already saying prayers during Mass.
I know a woman who boasts about being able to say the Rosary flat out in about 5 mins during Mass, now I have to ask myself why ?
I’m not going to tell anyone how to pray, but it’s not for me.

ASSUMING the order is from rightful authority:
  1. I wouldn’t bring into the Mass.
  2. I also would no longer wear deodorant.
  3. And wear lotsa Mentholatum chest rub.

Actually you should ask her WHAT “rosary”, or “why are you lying?”

Why does this remind me of those who spin the yearn about TLM priests in th 50’s who said Mass in 15min, then it got to 12min. then 7.654min.

the rosary is a private devotion which has its proper time and place, and Mass is not it. Mass is the supreme worship we owe God at the command of Christ himself, and assisting at Mass means exactly that, full active participation. You can’t enter into the dialogue and intention of the Mass if you are preoccupied with your own private devotion. Say your rosary before or after Mass, alone or with others.

I think he is proposing the question to TRADITIONALITS, not the universe.

Does anyone have their rosary beads out during Mass? I know I don’t. I pray mine before Mass starts, never once Mass has started.

I read the first post and this is my response. Pray the rosary outside Mass. Obey your priest and bishop in all things that are not sinful and which do not contradict the authority of the Church.
