Does anyone have their rosary beads out during Mass? I know I don’t. I pray mine before Mass starts, never once Mass has started.
[Edited by Moderator] Read the post #1. And answer in context of post #1.

A protestant has claimed that Traditionalists would get VERY irate about being asked or told to leave their ROSARY BEADS at home.

I know a woman who boasts about being able to say the Rosary flat out in about 5 mins during Mass, now I have to ask myself why ?
Exactly, why? Seems to me she somehow lost the meaning of the rosary. By doing it in 5 minutes, & boasting about it, seems she’s more focused with the speed in reciting the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be, rather than contemplating on the decades & meanings.

I’ve found the rosary isn’t long enough, and enter into contemplative prayer immediately after finishing.

And for the poll, if I’m ahead of schedule and can make it to Mass early, the rosary is in my pocket. But never during Mass.

Missing option: completely ignore the request and bring two rosaries to Church.

If you were told to: “Stop taking your Rosary to Mass”
Joey, I am unclear on whether you mean actually praying the rosary *during *Mass, or simply having one with you to pray before or after Mass, which is the most common occurrence for praying the rosary. Very few people, only a few little old ladies I have seen, actually pray the rosary during the Mass.

And if you are simply talking about having rosary beads in your possession, like in a pouch or a purse, then there isn’t much merit to your poll.

did you read the first post?

Actually you should ask her WHAT “rosary”, or “why are you lying?”

Why does this remind me of those who spin the yearn about TLM priests in th 50’s who said Mass in 15min, then it got to 12min. then 7.654min.
Yes it would be very hard to say it, and I don’t even think she had heard of the Mysteries of Light at the time. I suppose that’ll stretch her to 10 mins.

She could have meant only one set of Mysteries, but I can’t be sure, 5 mins for one set is pushing it too, like were in a race with someone.

Never mind needing a tongue like a machine gun, I suppose meditation is out the window with her as-well. 😉

I cannot vote on this poll because I do not take my rosary to Mass now.

I do not say my rosary during Mass, that is detracting from the focus, but I take it & none can stop me.

I can’t imagine a priest asking someone not to bring a Rosary to Mass. Why would he ?

The Rosary is a perfectly acceptable devotion, especially when used to assist at Holy Mass.

I’m surprised no one in this forum has mentioned that. Those old enough should remember seeing folks praying the Rosary during the TLM. My 70 year old cousin said she remembers seeing it.

Evidently some said the Rosary as a form of Spiritual Communion.

Fr F.X.Lasance, in his My Prayer Book (1908) …

"The Holy Rosary, on account of the meditations on the mysteries in the life of Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin, which we make while reciting it, is one of the most useful devotions while assisting at Mass, or, in connection with our visits to the blessed Sacrament and the Hour of Adoration. "

He describes this use of the Rosary as the Eucharistic Rosary.

I have seen fellow parishoners saying the Rosary during Mass(NO) at my parish, during Communion. Those I’ve seen doing it are elderly and are not going up to receive Communion, so I assume they are using it as an act of Spiritual Communion.

That was my thought… When I do carry my rosary beads, they are in a pouch in my pocket, unless I am praying the rosary. Would they be searching us on the way in? 😛

My answer to the poll is a latin one…fitting for a Traditional Catholic forum don’t you think?: *reductio ad absurdum. * 🙂

Your Friendly Neighborhood Methodist has at least one rosary on her person at all times.
If anyone told me to stop, I would most likely get out a nice tapestry sewing/crafts bag, fill it up to overflowing with rosary twine, and make rosaries, one after another, after another, after another, until I was tossed out.

But then, us Methodists have the option to be stubborn like that…Good thing, too!! I’m too darn 😊 old to change at this point in my life!!

Cute! 😃

I voted, ‘I would be angry’. But, why would I do as they asked of me?

It is a bit puzzling to me what to answer - The answer would be different depending on who asks me. 🙂

I’d do it, no problem. It would seem a bit weird though, seeing as my church is named “Holy Rosary” 😃 😉

The only thing you need to have with you in mass is your love of Christ. It helps to also have a clean soul, but you’re still welcome even if you don’t.

We have ten fingers for a rosary, we don’t need a string of beads.

I would probably sigh to myself and think, we Catholics have as many “nutcakes” in our Church as any of the others. I wouldn’t even cringe waiting for the lightening bolt.🙂

And your point?
