Hugs From Other Men

Rrrright…because there are so many European countries where men feel free to give full-bodied hugs to women they barely know. It’s more likely that these particular guys have figured out that American women (or new business associates from any foreign country not near enough to theirs to know what is actually done back home) will give them the benefit of the cultural doubt.
 I know there are many countries, many cultures, etc. but have you ever been to Europe? I’ve been to quite a few European countries that were much more friendly than the States. (Some were not, but most were).

To answer the earlier question, I’m a man.

A man who finds this issue to be a mountain out of a molehill.

But if it makes you feel better, I’ll give you a hug. 😉
I’ll take that hug! I’m secure in my manhood and have no problem with the same sex hugs.

I thought it was only certain people you didn’t want hugging her. Or is it everyone?
Family is fine, of course

As are friends of the family: people with whom we socialize, people we know.

The people listed in my OP are all acquaintances of my wife and people I’ve only met, neither of us really know them very well.

No, actually you are quite easy to figure out as are all human beings. Women verbalize everything so you really are open books. It’s just that most guys don’t want to listen. However, I have learned that when you listen to a woman and look her directly in the eye as she talks will divulge any information you show an interest in.
Well, maybe your wife, or husband, is easy to read, but my wife is not. At times.

We’ve been married long enough that I have learned to ready her fairly well, and I can tell when she needs to let off steam and is unloading on me, but there are definitely times when she is contrariwise. It can be interesting.
If these guys make your wife uncomfortable she will tell them off I’m sure.
I believe I’ve already covered this, but that she does not do.
Not every guy in the world has secret passions for your wife. She may be amazing to you but that doesn’t mean other guys want her.
Have you even read the material? I know we’ve already covered this. There are some who definitely do, we’ve had to deal with them in the past, I’ll leave it at that.
Maybe you need to start hugging some women and get over it.
I’m quite happy with my wife, thanks anyway, though.

I say “rrright…” because I think people of good will are willing to be taught when they meet someone with a bigger sense of personal space than they have. The posing-as-innocent guys, OTOH, will try to pretend that they don’t quite get it that they aren’t allowed to hug whomever they want whenever they want.

You run against the same thing in non-sexual situations: that is, the person who just thinks that hugging is the greatest thing and everybody ought to do it and if you don’t happen to like it you ought to be their personal project for awakening to the benefits of frequent hugging. People deserve to keep custody of their own boundaries, and deserve to have their own boundaries respected without question. I’m a huggy person, but I believe very strongly that non-huggy people ought to have their non-hugginess respected. Teaching this to children is also one of the things that experts teach as a way to help fend of sexual predators. If you force them to accept hugs from well-meaning relatives, you teach them that they don’t have the right to decide who may touch them, when they may be touched, and how they may be touched. Everyone should have that right, even if Grandma or Aunt May is going to be disappointed! Besides, it allows people on one end of the autism spectrum to be much more comfortable in social situations if they know they aren’t going to be physically accosted by people on the other end.

Yes, because I’m sure some college grad is fantasizing about your wife. Really guys? Grow up! Most guys go for younger not older. Sounds like you do too much of the wrong kind of thinking. A lot of the “college grad” guys my husband works with are a lot more respectful and less aggressive than their female peers. Maybe you guys should watch out for the proverbial “college girls” instead of making ignorant generalizations about “college boys.” I’m sure your wives would appreciate that more.
I am afraid I do not quite follow your thinking. My wife is 30, she has been hit on at work by younger guys and older guys.
The age does not matter. But appropriateness does. Being appropriate is something that is obviously lost on the modern generation.
